cortana 5 : It's perpetually my time of the month and I'm just grouchy.
Foman: I see absolutely no reason, either theoretical or practical, that this is not a superb idea. Excellent work, my friend.

I have roamed these parts for a few years now, made my share of complaints, been banned and warned all the way down to mythic, and even endured countless pages of ridicule for me unorthodox opinions. But I am not here to talk to you about this today. Today I am here to talk about signatures.

Apart from the search bar, I none of B.net's features are left out to try like the signatures. And why? They can tell us more about a user than anything, even their title, which can be quite misleading. I mean look at me. At first glance I might appear to be a bright blue beacon of truth and salvation, but let's be honest, Underdog was the only one of us that truly embodied that loyal face, at least before he turned orange from an ugly overdose on carrots. No my fellow Bnettians, as much as you might like to believe it, I am not a light of truth sent from the heavens. I am but a simple member bent on working as hard as I can to make B.net the best website the makers of a hit video game franchise can fathom.

But would you know this by simply looking at my post? How about my glorious title bar? No! Of course not.

Now, open your eyes and glance at that little arrow on the right hand side of the title bar. That little arrow IS the beacon of hope. It represents everything that is right in the world and everything that B.net could become. It is perfect.

Now, let us look into my signature for a moment. Now I realize that it is far from the masterpieces that most of our members have lovingly crafted from the bowels of their soul using only the simple fingers that are so flippantly attached to their bodies, but I know it well and can therefor explain it without error.

My Most Rewarding Contributions to B.net:
Legendary Members, Fix'd!, Affection, Semi-Mythic Members.

This thread is locked for being stupid.

First we see the line: "My Most Rewarding Contributions to B.net:". Now, from this simple fragment we can conclude that I feel that I have made contributions to B.net. But why would I include that in my signature one might ask. Well little fella', let's look into that. If I find this line important enough to be in my signature, then I obviously feel that making contributions to B.net is important. But more than that, it shows that I am but a simple member who's goal is to improve our internet home to its paramount of potential.

Now, lets take a look at the next line: "Legendary Members, Fix'd!, Affection, Semi-Mythic Members," with various links throughout. While the links aren't incredibly important, it does show a mastery of the B.net art of linking, boldifying, and underlining. This suggests that I have been around long enough to learn these tricks of the trade. But that much can be gained from my title. No, the real information is found in the words that grace the links. The first, "Legendary Members," is an obvious tribute to our fellow gray haired members showing that I do not feel that I am superior to any other member. The next, "Fix'd," displays the care and attention I take in building this website to perfection. I feel that my input and constructive criticism helps expand on the work that the B.net developers have already poured into the mold that has become this masterpiece. "Affection" reveals that I believe that respect and love should be shared among all of our members and that I value the wonderful and positive connections that each of our fellow members share with one-another. And finally, "Semi-Mythic Members." Since it is bold and underlined we must assume that it is of great importance. It shows that I do not view Mythic members as any greater than any other member, but rather an extension of the rest of the community. They are not Mythic, but simply Semi-Mythic. I bring into question the legitimacy of the titles here simply by casting doubt on the highest of the basest members' titles.

Finally, I include a quote by one of our moderators. I do this to show that I respect all of our moderators and their dedication to our community. Duardo is a personal favorite of mine because of the work he has poured into the analysis of the FAQ on B.net Member Titles topic. Excellent formatting. You must be commended. The quote I include reveals the spontaniosity and take charge attitude that all moderators hold, an attribute that I greatly respect.

So I hope you all can see now. There is more to a member than his title or the content of his post. In fact I beg all members post their responses to others in their signatures so the rest of the community will know that their is truth in their words. I would like to raise awareness about the signature so that all members may know each other better and develop lasting relationships with one-another.

So tell us, what does your signature say about you? Shouldn't we stop complaining about meaningless titles and instead look behind the arrow of each member's post?

Whilst I agree that a memeber's signature can tell us a lot about someone...

...I don't think theses 'Ultra Mature' forums are ready for such a feature, do you?

Other forums I go to allow people to post images, too. I doubt this feature will ever be allowed either, to compensate for the John Cenas amongst us.

Shame. Good post though dude.

The tide is turning, brothers! Let us take our kingdom back!

The tide is turning, brothers! Let us take our kingdom back!
Not only have I forgotten that this was my signature, I have also forgotten where it's from. I guess that says a lot about me.

@Geegs30

Mine just has a little information about myself, nothing too personal. I like to give people a little glimpse behind the anonymity of Geegs30. I haven't been here that long, but I do enjoy being able to connect to other people, not just usernames. I'm sure there are others here that also like talking to humans and not usernames, so my sig is for them.

Your sig does give some insight on who you are as a user on here, but I think your posts go into greater detail.

After spending 3 years on these forums,

I have browsed these forums for a long time

I have roamed these parts for a few years now

I see that you've obviously been here a while.

I propose a new chain of commands. They are the affection commands.

Posted by: sharpace77
I propose we call it "The Legendary Forum."

Posted by: sharpace77
Therefore I propose the Semi-Mythic member, a new title to help with the transition.

I see you've got creative ideas swimming through your head.

Posted by: sharpace77
Their title would be Semi-Mythic

Posted by: sharpace77
I have realized one undeniable fact: Legendary members are the bane of the community.

They can tell us more about a user than anything, even their title, which can be quite misleading.

There's something with you and titles its seems...

There's other things like how proud you are to be on this site and love to make interesting threads. There's probably more that I don't feel like going into detail about but what I'm trying to get at is I got the gist of you by reading your posts. Not once did I touch the dropdown button for your sig. IMO I think reading posts helps a lot more to see what kind of user they are than silly signatures or even the silly titles.

Do you know what kind of hat I'm wearing?

A party hat; you don't get one. An honor will this party be, a party in your honor, for your honor. Some of Tfear's personal guards are going to be there. You'll be introduced shortly.

Prepare to die.

As much as I agree with your arguments, I still think that other features like Coup d' Bungie and the 'groups' button hold more personality than a signature box.

You can deduct the personality of the user and see their interests in the blink of an eye with coup d' Bungie.

The group button lets other people see what their interest are ... even when they don' want you to know.

And be honest, signatures are often ignored by a large part of the Bungie community, they just aren't user friendly.
