Their next game better have rocket boots!

I made that up.

The superintendent symbol from odst is in the new halo ce map trailer. Did 343 get permission to use it or does bungie not own the rights to it anymore?

Bungie gave up Halo in 2007. ODST was released in 2009. Microsoft owns the rights to ODST and therefore the SI.

Not on this list, though i doubt this is every thing they own the rights to.

I've scratched my head because I have some distant (though by all means probably wrong) memory that Bungie mentioned that they did indeed own the rights to SI but not anything directly related to Halo. I need an adult! URK!

I AM AN ADULT!

On topic, I think Bungie is just lending out the SI to 343 for the time being.

You're right, I know for a fact that Bungie owned the rights to the Superintendent. I very specifically remember looking at their trademarks a while back and being surprised that they had it on that list as one of their trademarks. They must have sold it to MS.

Yeah, they did own it. Otherwise they wouldn't have been able to sell superintendent t-shirts in the bungiestore.

(which are still there)

Hi I'm RT and I like to argue!

They did at one point own it. In fact, I specifically remember it being on that trademarks page.

I remember this too. It's also one of the few Halo symbols that Bungie still actively utilizes.

Well, I already pointed out that it wasn't posted in the Trademarks section of the site, so it must not matter that much.

When I grow up, I want to be just like goofenhour.

According to the United States Copyright Office, they still own the right to the Superintendent.

I'M AN ADULT

Bungie did have the SI as a registered trademark back in the ODST era. It's likely that Microsoft purchased the trademark from Bungie so they could freely use it in the second Halo trilogy.

They did own it, as it was on the Trademarks page. It appears either Microsoft bought it, or an agreement was made to use it.

Black Water Ops representative.
See you on the battlefield.

The Superintendent is a part of the Halo IP, which Bungie no longer controls.

Obviously something happened, as Bungie would be unlikely to sue over this.

I thought about this when I saw the Headlong remake leak during Halofest. I checked the trademarks page, but nothing was there, although I remember Bungie saying they own the rights to the SI, possibly when the Bungie Store reopened. Strange.

Hey, now!

This is officially either the greatest or worst thing to ever happen to Star Wars. I'm going with the former.

They at least USED to own it. I remember clearly the SI looking at me on the TM's page...
