I feel like the luckiest halo fan right now. I got to play halo 2 todayat e3 and had a -blam!- load of fun.
Its tough to say what I thought about it.... first off its going to take some getting used to. here are some of the things i was worried about
1) i played as an elite and its no different than the mc himself.
2) there is no more health bars, its all shields. Towards the end its bloody as hell though.
3) the boost thing of the ghost its seemded weird at first but when you try it it doesnt really make a difference in the game. When you boost you cant be hi jacked, and you cant steer at all- youjust go straight.
4) you cant carry the flag on the ghost anymore.
5) the new AR is accurate as hell, the zoom is similar to the pistol requiring about 2 extra shots, and non-zoomed is really accurate with burst fire and fully auto.
6) there was no melee combos, and the physics for the melee contact was weak (probably stil being worked on) I missed when I shouldnt have...
7) the plasma sword is- well- scary as hell. If you see a guy coming at you there is a good chance your gonna die. You have two choices b button to regualr melee, or you "lock on" and right trigger to do this charge attack.
8) dual weilding rules all. You can rule enemies once you get a good weapon combo and get a feel for the recoil. Dual weilding just decimates an enemy.
9) the map we played on was hella small; but it had tons of little tunnels and backways to sneak into the base.
10)hijacking is tough to do, the timing has to be exact, and cant do it when a vehicle is at full speed.
11) the maps have exploding barrels
12) A lot of stuff is not done yet; a lot fo the animations are still rough form reloading to melee, and the explosions and explosion physics are probably still being worked on
13)everyting does explode, and everything in the enviornment moves too... I shot a rocket at a trashedup warthog and all the fallen wheels flew everywhere. I shot rockets at a wall and it desintegrated.
14) THE BIG SHOCKER: WE PLAYED HALO 2 WITH 10 PLAYERS.. big deal right... guess how many tvs? 10
it seems that bungie will offer one tv and one xbox per person.
Things im gonna have to get used to:
1) i dont think there is gonna be a pistol:(
2) the game seemed a little slower
3) there is so much to do and so many plaves to run and hide, triggers to pull, bridges to open etc...
4) the map was super small
5) I feel dirty playing as a covie
6)weapon recoil...
This is all i have post any questions on topics I might not have toched on and ill do my best to answer.
