So Bungie are publishing games now? Then what's the point of their contract with Activision? Is it different with handheld consoles/devices then?
Publishing a game for a developer with less than 15 people < Publishing a game with less than 200
Publishing a game for the XBOX 360 and PS3 and iPad are completely different.
First off, developing a game for the 360 cost a lot of money. One, purchasing the rights to use Microsoft SDK ($10,000 per year), Dev kits ($1000-$5000 for about each kit, studios require a few hundred), and other software costs a ton of money. Not to mention you have to help pay for a little less than 200 employees, the price of creating million of discs and cases, and then advertisement of the game.
Developing for the iPad is much more forgiving. All you have to do is have an iPad ($500), SDK ($300 a year), and a Mac. They are of completely different scale.
