Case and point: don't worry about it. Girls start getting boobies pretty soon, and then you'll have plenty of other things to think about. Being an Inheritor is not a life goal.

It's hard to type the same e-mail you used for your gamertag?

  • 09.17.2011 10:50 AM PDT

Hey, now!

This is officially either the greatest or worst thing to ever happen to Star Wars. I'm going with the former.

It's not that difficult.

Make a Windows Live ID.
Create Gamertag with said Live ID
Create Bungie.net profile.
Link Profile to Gamertag.
?????
Profit!

Name's WIlliam,

For the love of God it's pronounced mister-shag, not misters-hag.

Hahahaha. You just use the email address and password associated with the Gamertag. I don't think Bungie can make it any easier it's a two step process that is a simple as your email address and password. If you just had to type in your Gamertag, people would link other people's Gamertags to their bnet accounts.

Maybe try making a new bnet account and linking your Gamertag with that one? I'm not sure if there is a policy against one person holding multiple accounts.

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

If your B.net account WLID is the same you use with your XBL gamertag then it should be quite simple.

This should help you. It is from the "Unlinking/Linking Gamertag & Bungie.net Account by Changing WLID" Thread. How do I change the gamertag linked to my Bungie.net profile?

In order to change the gamertag linked to your Bungie.net profile, you must unlink the current gamertag and then link the new gamertag. Your current setup probably looks like this.

Bnet Profile --> WLID 1 <-- XBL Gamertag (Current)
WLID 2 <-- XBL Gamertag (New)

1. You must recover the gamertag (currently linked to your Bungie.net profile) onto a Xbox 360 console. If the Xbox LIVE gamertag has not been migrated over to the 360 yet, please visit this page here for more information. If it has, simply enter the gamertag name and continue. Then, input the Windows Live ID login credentials just as if you were signing into your Bungie.net profile.

2. Now that you have recovered your gamertag, you need a third Windows Live ID. To create a new Windows Live ID, simply visit http://account.live.com and click sign up. You may also kill two birds with one stone by creating a Bungie.net profile, thus creating WLID 3. I would suggest choosing the display name of the gamertag you just recovered if available. If not, then choose something similar.

3. Sign into Xbox LIVE with the gamertag currently linked to your Bungie.net profile. From My Xbox, go to your profile. Select Manage Account, Windows Live ID, and then Change Windows Live ID. Say yes, you do have a WLID to swap. Enter your current information and continue. When it asks for the new email address and password, input the login credentials for WLID 3. At this point, you have unlinked the gamertag from your Bungie.net profile.

4. Now, sign into Xbox LIVE with the gamertag you want to link to your Bungie.net profile. From My Xbox, go to your profile. Select Manage Account, Windows Live ID, and then Change Windows Live ID. Say yes, you do have a WLID to swap. Enter your current information and continue. When it asks for the new email address and password, input the login credentials for WLID 1 (just as if you were signing into your Bungie.net profile).

If you followed these instructions correctly, your new setup should look like this.

Bnet Profile --> WLID 1 <-- XBL Gamertag (New)
WLID 2 [Not Linked]
WLID 3 <-- XBL Gamertag (Old)

I have to disagree on this one; I believe unlinking is harder. You should just be able to have a button, "Unlink Gamertag."

Linking an account is not complicated. You're just too self entitled and helpless to go and learn how to do it. The only thing you have to do to link a gamertag is to use the same WLID for your B.net login and Gamertag. If the two don't match then change your Xbox WLID.

I cannot, my correct gamertag wlid is already another profile
And the problem is what exactly? Change your Xbox WLID.

I broke one of the cords for my X11s because I couldn't get past the final American course in Doritos Crash Course.

Its so easy I've just about made new accounts by accident.

All you do is press sign ina nd log in with your xbox live account.

So you've got your Bnet account linked to some random GT right? and you also want to link your other GT to this Bnet profile.

1. recover that random GT on your Xbox 360 and change the WLID of that GT to something else. This will unlink it from your Bnet profile.

2. Take your real GT and change the WLID to the one that matches your Bnet profile. Your GT is now linked to your Bnet profile. Congrats.

I didn't know signing into B.net then clicking the link button to xbox.com was hard. It literally took me 5 seconds.

Is it really that hard? I haven't done it since 2009. I remember having no trouble.
