Subject: A decline in moderation?
  • gamertag: tcEDGE
  • user homepage:

Recently I've noticed a decline in active moderation.

On a handful of separate occasions this month, spammers have, well, spammed the Flood with shock sites and profanity filter bypassing.

Although they're swiftly reported, they're never locked anytime under an hour after they're made. By that time the offender has reached his thread limit and moved on, but the average member is oblivious or just uncaring that with each reply the thread is bumped back to the top.

I've reported each thread, and after a while, messaged a handful of mods, but even that has only worked once. By the time I'm responded to, the upset is over.

I realize the mods can come and go as they please, and in the end it really doesn't matter. I was just wondering if anyone else had noticed.

Oh, it's this thread again.

Just a few minutes ago I reported a user who was spamming ads for his site, and it was dealt with almost instantly. It seems like they're doing their duty to me; either way, spam is bound to pass the net of moderators surfing the forums and reporters doing their job.

Just curious, what was the time this happened?

The mods are human, other than Skiptrace, so they need sleep. I'm sure there is going to be gaps, and that most likely was one.

OP actually went the extra mile to report and block me. That's cool.

Mods are human OP. They can't be on 24/7.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

LOL, there is definitely NOT a decline in moderation.

Qbix just posted in every thread I made.

How much can you expect from a group of 20 or so volunteers on a very active site?

Oh, it's this thread again.
The fact that there have been other threads on this issue is no reason to belittle it. Just because a discussion has happened before does not mean new discussion should be discredited. With the versatility of the English language, new concepts are sure to be presented to the argument.

Additionally, if numerous threads are being posting on a subject, it is obviously an issue, and should not be disregarded.

But, if your opinion chooses to demean this thread for such a counterproductive reason, then by all means, don't partake.

I'm not belittling it at all. I welcome the discussion about this type of "problem". I just find it tiresome to see so many of these threads. It's better to maintain the discussion in a single thread than to make multiple threads.

Both aspects have pros and cons, neither is inherently "better", as you so foolishly proclaim without any evidence.

Less than if there had been 40. Wait, that almost seems like a solution.

On another note, when will people, instead of just pointing out that it is a repeat topic, acknowledge the reasons behind it being a repeat topic?

I foolishly proclaim. It's my opinion, I'm not stating as a fact that those threads are better. The large threads who maintain their info organized are the ones I was referring to, not the ones who go like 50 pages and it's all about rants and insults.

And I know they both have their pros and cons. I just prefer the bigger threads with the info organized.

Smaller threads just end up being forgotten after about 3 pages.
