cars, girls & cake all day everyday
Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to mourn the loss of a once treasured and innovative website feature on bungie.net; one that would and did greatly improve the way we browse through the website, and one that very much did facilitate the aesthetic value and heavenly glow of the Bungie website theme of the now much forgotten days of Halo 2 lore.
As members who have often found this site in antecedence will often vouch to reminisce, our beloved navbar was taken from us by the guise2fixsite, in the Pacific afternoon of the 20th of March 2007. It was replaced with the now monotonous and dull and black and dark blue countenance of today. The dark and eerie feel of logging into a community once tight-knit and friendly and comfortable, then metamorphosed into a dark and popularized gothic city of demons and dregs and newkids and spam, could be recalled as a very agonizing and oft-distraught transition for those who still retain the memories of a place where we the fans could gather 'round and have a laugh at a recent and frivolous happening at the always productive and ingenious talent powerhouses that we called Bungie Studios. Our transition was rough, but being the forceful and dynamic might known as the 7th column community, we bared the brunt of an inevitable and ever-expanding base of fanatics, and the now hardened steel encrusted and gold encrusted diamond stone that can be described as the fanbase of today is definitely something we can say is a proud adventure to become a part of, regardless of what point in the adventure we were juxtaposed to it.
But let us not forget our beloved navbar. She stuck by us, through thick and thin, spammy and non-spammy, light and dark, until the end of her days, and though we knew the end of her days would arrive in due time, we still were not able to fully convalesce from the slight and trivial disappointment that followed in her absence.
In this thread, you will share what convenience, what wonder and what slight liquidation of everyday boredom, with her opening and closing overly-gigantic animated home buttons, that she brought to you over the 3 years of her existence. If you are too new to have had the gift of glancing and grazing upon the navbar in it's full beauty and functionality, then discuss how awesome and rad it would be for her to make an updated and much conformed return from the grave.
