Subject: The Navbar (R.I.P.) A very very (very) late funeral...

cars, girls & cake all day everyday

Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to mourn the loss of a once treasured and innovative website feature on bungie.net; one that would and did greatly improve the way we browse through the website, and one that very much did facilitate the aesthetic value and heavenly glow of the Bungie website theme of the now much forgotten days of Halo 2 lore.

As members who have often found this site in antecedence will often vouch to reminisce, our beloved navbar was taken from us by the guise2fixsite, in the Pacific afternoon of the 20th of March 2007. It was replaced with the now monotonous and dull and black and dark blue countenance of today. The dark and eerie feel of logging into a community once tight-knit and friendly and comfortable, then metamorphosed into a dark and popularized gothic city of demons and dregs and newkids and spam, could be recalled as a very agonizing and oft-distraught transition for those who still retain the memories of a place where we the fans could gather 'round and have a laugh at a recent and frivolous happening at the always productive and ingenious talent powerhouses that we called Bungie Studios. Our transition was rough, but being the forceful and dynamic might known as the 7th column community, we bared the brunt of an inevitable and ever-expanding base of fanatics, and the now hardened steel encrusted and gold encrusted diamond stone that can be described as the fanbase of today is definitely something we can say is a proud adventure to become a part of, regardless of what point in the adventure we were juxtaposed to it.

But let us not forget our beloved navbar. She stuck by us, through thick and thin, spammy and non-spammy, light and dark, until the end of her days, and though we knew the end of her days would arrive in due time, we still were not able to fully convalesce from the slight and trivial disappointment that followed in her absence.

In this thread, you will share what convenience, what wonder and what slight liquidation of everyday boredom, with her opening and closing overly-gigantic animated home buttons, that she brought to you over the 3 years of her existence. If you are too new to have had the gift of glancing and grazing upon the navbar in it's full beauty and functionality, then discuss how awesome and rad it would be for her to make an updated and much conformed return from the grave.

Terrible feature, glad it is gone.

Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

Bit no matter were you were on the page, it was always there!

Fret not, Gun of the Top, for there were lots of hate and dislike indeed towards the navbar, but that did not deter us from recognizing her beauty and convience! She stuck by us (and I mean really stuck by us) through thick and thin, and those who remember her for her gracious countenance will not forget that.

Hello! I'm Bunie.net's resident medical student (hell i'm sure there are more but I'm the only one who openly declares it!) I love my emblem, and I am periodically active.
I have a Twitter

I think it looked cool, but what we got now is ok.

Sapphire just got even more awesome.

Posted by: mount420: You are late.
Posted by: jaythenerdkid: A wizard is never late.
Posted by: THORSGOD: Nor is he ever early. He arrives precisely when he means to.

I'm sure the Navbar would have been much better than what we have now. Looks much cooler, too.

Don't -blam!- with Kerser!

I loved that thing. Last time i used it was back in 2004. Then when i came back to B.net in 09 it was gone.

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time.

I know who you are.

You are Destiny.

I always hated that -blam!-ing Navbar. I'm glad it's gone, but I do enjoy the memories of halcyon past.

I spend too much time here.. too much time indeed.

I tweet?

I remember that thing. Always there... just there... in the way. But at least it looked cool while doing it.

I'm not so sure about the funcionality of the navbar but it looked cool and I prefered the theme back then. There's nothing wrong with the curent theme but it had a warmer feeling back in the day.

Case and point: don't worry about it. Girls start getting boobies pretty soon, and then you'll have plenty of other things to think about. Being an Inheritor is not a life goal.

It was also very chrome... and as we all know, everything in the future is chrome. We may see it reincarnated again.Posted by: Batzter

Urgh, the many inconviences that bar gave me.

I will never forgive it, and never forget it.

That bar was horrible. I don't know if it's just me, but I can't take retro UI for like anything. Even 5 years ago it bothered me.

I love the current B.net because of it's custom coded UI beauty, it looks modern, and it's soothing. The time B.net looked worse though, was when it had that UGLY Avalanche background around the Legendary Map Pack release.

I broke one of the cords for my X11s because I couldn't get past the final American course in Doritos Crash Course.

looks like it took up a crap load of space, if it was smaller and you could toggle it, I'de like to see it return.
