We are determined that before the sun sets on this terrible struggle our flag will be recognized throughout the world as a symbol of freedom on the one hand and of overwhelming force on the other.

I was wondering as to what naval strategies the Covenant employed against the UNSC? They sure as hell had breathing room, when fighting as the superior enemy.

I'm inquiring as to how they deployed the cruisers, carriers, battleships, ect..

An what weapons/formations they employed.

Walk softly, and carry a big midget.

Standard formation: little bastards up front, big ones in back.

"Find where the liar hides, so that I may place my boot between his gums!" - Rtas 'Vadum

We are not told anything like that, though they don't seem to put an awful lot of thought in to it. It strikes me as ablative rush tactics mostly.

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

When fighting the UNSC? It didn't really matter.

When your weapons tech and defenses are so superior, ship formation and tactics are almost irrelevant. Every engagement almost starts as a "mopping up" exercise.

I do not think there is a modern equivalent yet. These were space battles, and that adds an entire z axis. So entire new formations would have to be invented.

Which is why space-borne naval recruits should play contact sports in zero-G. aka Enders Game.

That would be....an interesting training...

For tactics, they just fire tons of plasma torpedoes followed by or including Energy Projectors.

As for formations, we've only seen/read two: A staggered line of ships or they do a sphere around the flagship of the fleet.

Lost in Pherion... return from the hell and began fall in the hole of the corrupted shadows...

Well i think in a strategy like the actual strategies used by navy.
- eliminate all space and air threat (UNSC Navy, defence stations, air force) and take control of the sky;
- elimination by conventional attacks the main objectives or using extraordinary glassing attack aganist main strongholds;
- occupation of the territory surrounding the main objective aquired using foot troopers and air support;
- final goal is roundups of enemy survivors.

At the end of the campaign, a Prophet is committed to bless the ground gained, if the planet must be annex at the Empire... but is not neccessary for the minors planets gained at the Covenant Empire cause.

Dude, I loved that book. Though to be honest, that training did not really prepare them for the final "simulator". Kin do of just fostered creativity.

We should know better, because we are better.

I always pictured them performing Zerg-rush, attrition tactics.

The Covenant are like your little cousin that's visiting. Your mom forces you to turn on the handicap, and better abilities for him when playing video games.
So he rushes you, and thinks he's superior.
