By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

ODST >>>>>>>> Reach

- Sadie's story
- Atmosphere
- Music
- Skybox
- Storyline
- Characters
- Everything else

No explanation is needed.

Out of Reach and ODST, clearly ODST. Reach just didn't have that "Halo" feel to me. Too gritty, maybe.

My favorite mission of all halo games is The Truth and Reconciliation from halo ce. Can't wait to see what it will look like in November.

ODST in my opinion. It shown alot of what its like to be in a ODST squad in halo, rather than a lone spartan all the time.

ODST, since it did have a plot for more than just the last two levels.

ODST had a better story and soundtrack, but as far as level design, weapons, sounds, animation, enemies, and replayability goes Reach wins a million times over.

easy there, we're only talking about story, i'm sure ODST would be better in all those departments if it came later as well

Uh, no we're not. The thread is about the best campaign, not about best story. ODST had a much better story, but it was also very shallow, very short, and also a bit outdated. There was only one new enemy and two new guns, everything else was recycled from Halo 3. ODST was fantastic and I loved it, but Reach is fundamentally superior outside of eveything but story.

i beat reach on legendary and went: "Okay now thats over". I felt no intrest in replaying reaches campaign, it was long, boaring, tedious, and not that cool. ODST on the other hand always was making things diffrent, if ur playing the rookie, it was always fun to walk around the streets and amubushing covies. odst had a much better campaign IMOP

well yeah, but when most people hear campaign, they think story.

also, keep in mind that ODST's formal title was Halo 3: ODST. Its a add on, so of course its gonna get recycled.

Oddly enough I like Reach a lot more than ODST, don't get me wrong, ODST is great, but the campaign was just kind of "meh" to me over all :/ I felt rather bored during the Rookie's missions except for the last couple ones where you were fleeing the city with Virgil.

On the other hand I enjoyed Reach very much. Wasn't bored by any of the levels. Both games are good, but I think I liked Reach's campaign more.

There is lot of opinions in this thread.

Easy answer to this question is: ODST. It had better story, atmosphere, etc. Reach is just... meh to me. I didn't feel like it was truly invasion to me and despair to me at all. It was just a small skirmish. If they had followed some contents or elements from the TfoR and First Strike, it would be much better.

NOTICE: It is my opinion, it will be not changed. ODST is great to me while Reach is terrible to me. See the difference? Yeah.

Seems that Bungie was lazy with Reach and never bothered to use writing 101, lol.

Both games fail miserably at telling a good, or even decent, story. They chose incredible places to tell an awesome story, and yet, in the end, I'm scratching my head wondering what were they thinking.

Here are a few reasons why both games have terrible campaigns:

1. Uninteresting missions.

2. A character driven story with no interesting characters.

3. A character driven story with no character development.

4. You character happens to be new in the group in both games, but there is little to no attachment in the group. Well, in ODST they knew each other, but thanks to the fact that the Rookie and the squad are separated, you can't feel yourself integrated to the group. You might say that while playing as other member of the squad they develop their personalities, but that's not true, they are extremely focused in the mission to develop them.

5. Unsatisfying conclusion.

6. Horribly wasted potential. Seriously, an ODST in the middle of an abandoned New Mombasa? Think of all the possibilities. A group of Spartans fighting the Covenant in Reach? I must be in heaven!

*plays both games*

Ohhh...

So yeah, not a fan of those games, but if I really had to choose, I would probably go with ODST campaign, the setting in the night is really good... and... I think that's it. The other missions are just a boring Firefight mess.

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

Meh, can't decide really. Reach had some interesting vistas, subtly deep characters and I did enjoy the story. ODST has the best music, equally interesting characters and Sadie's Story.

Can't pick.

Juan, I'm going to assume you've not read the thread detailing how Noble Team is indeed more fleshed out than most can see, you should read it.
