I have to agree... I just bought this game hoping that it'd be fun to play. However I have some strange problems.
1. I can't use vehicles in multiplayer all the time (BUT, other people can)
2. I get lag-like effects on my own server
3. I can't crouch while walking/running
4. I get dips down to about 10fps in multiplayer regardless of the resolution
Some other complaints...
1. No in-game V-sync (the first Halo has this!)
2. Selected resolution doesn't always work or as intended. At first my screen was a stretched out 4:3.
3. You can't use a letter for talking, because pushing that letter again makes the textbox go away.
I understand Bungie isn't responsible for these issues, I just wish the PC port was as polished as the rest of the game (artwork and soundtrack have been superb so far).
1. Are you sure you're pressing the right button? ;)
2. This is likely fps spikes/drops which i too had on my laptop (non existant on my PC). To fix this, cap your fps using fps limiter to 30fps and it should reduce or remove the lag completely
3. Is this with a controller? Because i never had this issue with m+k
4. See 2
1. This i agree with, however there is always forcing vsync through the graphics card menu
The rest i'm not to sure on. As for Halo 2 in general, i think it's a good game. As for Halo 2 Vista, it had potential, but there were a number of things that ruined it for me, such as poor mod tools, poor m+k support, no basic features, poorly optimised. Amongst other things that specifically affected me, was the lack of regular gametypes, i would have actually once in a while wanted to play Headlong on Assault but it's all Coag or Lockout. So if i ever use H2V, it's for the Co op mod with friends.
Finally, the large hitboxes make it easy to get kills. Halo PC's more of a challenge there and i've played enough Halo 2 back in the day so these days, H2V only serves as a 30 min break during the day.
