Something smells fishy...

It seems more and more evident, to me, that new or used physical copies of the first two Halo games (Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2) for either XBOX or PC will no longer be for sale in the not so distant future.

Currently Halo: Combat Evolved for XBOX is till available for purchase as a dowlnoad via the XBOX Live Marketplace. However a new physical copy is not available for online purchase. As for Halo 2 for XBOX, since it is not available for purchase as a download, purchasing a new physical copy online from either Best Buy, Gamestop, or Microsoft currently seems pretty much impossible. You just have to hope a store still has it in stock when you walk in.

Both Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 for PC seem to be limited in supply but not entirely unavailable for online purchase.

I believe, sadly, that once the last new or used physical copies of Halo 1 and 2 XBOX are purchased from stores both games will be never be restocked again.

But ofcourse Amazon seems to be still selling some physical copies. But I'm not sure for how much longer.

Interest in both games have dropped so low that there's no way retailers are making money off it anymore. It makes sense that they wouldn't restock it. Halo PC is reaching the end of its farewell and is now in the process of fizzling out.

Its all really sad, but we can't do anything about it. All we can do is hold onto the copies we have proudly and in reverence to how things once were. To be able to say we remember Halo PC in all its glory the same way I and many others feel towards games like Quake III Arena and Starsiege Tribes. Hopefully the PC community will be getting a treat soon to continue on living. It seems very unlikely, but you never know. ;)

This is actually the stupidest thing ever posted on B.net:

Why does everyone hate Halo 2? Maybe its because its the worst game ever next to mario.

I am just glad that I grew up in the true generation of gaming. I got to witness the magic of Combat Evolved and the epic LAN parties that brought real friends together. I also was there to be apart of the online greatness H2 had to offer from start to shutdown, but lets not forget what came before that.

I still have my NES, Genesis and N64 (this is what I grew up on). I will never let them go. Kids nowadays are wrapped up in the modern games which provide nothing more but great visuals and eye candy.

Yeah it makes me very sad. I guess 20 years from now young people may never have heard of the Halo franchise, Steve Jobs might be dead, Bill Gates will be old (I think 76), and console gaming will be dying.

There are so many copies of these games in circulation that I doubt they will become rare anytime this century.

Yeah, you're probably right. But I'm not saying that once the games are no longer sold they will instantly become rare or antiques.
