Subject: What's Up With You and This "Bungie?"

So, today, after I asked to order a framed picture from Bungiestore.com, my parents asked me, "What's up with you and this 'Bungie' website and stuff?" and I couldn't really provide them with an answer. I suppose there's a ton of reasons why I keep coming back, but I can't really put my finger on one...

Discuss why you keep coming back to Bungie.net ITT. The lame jokes are definitely a factor for me.

Request from the OP: Do not say Foman's mom. She is a nice lady.

The Joyeuse IP Formula

My mom used to give me long lectures about only talking about internet conversations on this "Bungie" website. Of course, I was 12 at the time.

My mom understands now. I've met life-long friends though this site. My ambitions have spawned from activities on this site.

This site, hell, this community has always felt like home to me. The oldies stay and complain, the middle-schoolers are always fun to debate with, and the newer members are either all doe-eyed with fascination or barge in with a, "WATS GOIN ON IN THIS THREAD?"

Oh, and Urk is still a ginger.

ie, the inside jokes, the people, and the culture. The big brothers I never had, those who became the father I never had, and those who accepted me as a nerdy 11 year-old when I joined are why I stay.

Yes. Yes, she is.

Something to do when I'm at home.

Something smells fishy...

Your parents put forth a good question. But that same question could asked about many websites, especially Facebook.

I guess I come to this site because I enjoy Halo for one, the community, and the forums.

Lol, I've never met Foman's mom. That was a joke.

I feel like I've been here longer than I have. It's really easy to get used to, this site.

Haha... she wouldn't understand what I was talking about if I told her. She barely knows what the "internet" is.

Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

For me, it's a string I hold of what I once was - a child. I feel at home here, almost more so than laying on my very own bed. What Bungie has done has also inspired me to not only break into the development business, but to revolutionize it.

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

Bungie is and has (in all of the years, okay decades, that I have been aware of them as an entity) always been fun, funny, creative and decent people. Matt Soell once explained it as the Bungie rule of "only work with cool people" or inversely, "don't associate with jerks".

This has permeated the company to the point I don't even think of them as a company. I think of them more like this really really LARGE band. Hang on, I'll explain. Not a rock band, not even a jazz band, but that is closer. A collection of people under a banner, everyone is creative in their own right, but many of them were fans before they joined. Everyone who is currently "playing" is there because it is EXACTLY where and what they want to be. And because of that excitement, because of that love, they give their best. Always.

Now, the community? That same sort of "associate with cool people and don't associate and be dragged down by jerks" permeates the community that we fans are each a part of. Some are into the games, some into the culture, but in all, the amount of cool people, talented people, creative people and above all PASSIONATE people is utterly amazing to me.

That is why, as my gaming abilities, and even interest, start to diminish along with my myelin sheaths, my enjoyment, dedication and yes, even love, for this community hasn't diminished. Ever.

cars, girls & cake all day everyday

Pretty much this. Also what cortana said about certain people becoming life friends, etc.
Hell, I could even say that my entire 5 or so years on the internet is based off bungie.net (through bungie.net I found popular fusion, through popular fusion I found #moap and IRC, and through IRC I found everything else)

But there's no sense crying over every mistake.
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.
And the Science gets done.
And you make a neat gun.
For the people who are still alive.

It's entertaining, and I enjoy discussing topics in private groups and on The Flood.
