Subject: Why go dark?

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

Going dark is a per-requisite to beginning their new game.

Because the dark side has cookies.
I looked for such a long time to find a video of Luke asking Yoda if the dark side is stronger, but to no avail.

Current Phase: We're dark!

;)

We put a lot of thought into the dialog we have with you guys and girls, and because we were told to by Bobby Kotick we decided that this was the right approach. With time, it'll make more sense.

Fix'd.

Strangely, it's actually true.

Lol no.

Oh, yes...most certainly...

If by "most certainly" you mean that he played no role whatsoever in the decision, then yes, most certainly.

Words of wisdom all around, but no one ever seems to listen. The words are all around but the words are only sound. But nobody seems to listen. Instead they'll say, "Well how could we of known?" I'll tell em, "It's really not so hard to tell. keep adding stones, and the water gets lost in the well."

You imply a level of control over Halo: Reach matchmaking that we no longer have. Or, in your vernacular, it isn't our shiznit anymore.

I think I get it now. They didn't go dark to hide their new masterpiece from the world: they haven't figured out what to make yet. The world's first case of mass writers block, with a hundred people sitting in a room scratching their heads.

This is also the only logical explanation I can come up with. :o

Oh lol.

Sounds like a -blam!-, to be honest.

"In responding to why Activision Blizzard chose not to publish certain games following the Activision/Blizzard merger, he stated that focusing on franchises that "have the potential to be exploited every year on every platform with clear sequel potential and have the potential to become $100 million franchises" has "worked very well for [Activision Blizzard]". Kotick described this business strategy as "narrow and deep" or "annualizable" and cited it as key to attracting development talent who may not be drawn to "speculative franchises"

Wonder if this will be the same with Bungie's new IP..

This is gonna end up being some sort of Da Vinci Code type -blam!- where everything you do over the next year is directly relative to Destiny, including going dark. I bet you 20 bucks there's a secret message hidden in that^^ post.

Why go dark?

Why do girls wear clothes that they know will occasionally and completely by chance offer a slight glimpse of tender skin or soft and silky undergarments that they would be SO embarrassed if someone were to see?

Because they know that boys will stick around for hours waiting for that "totally unplanned" glimpse of something that no one else saw.
This is not a line of defense that holds up in court.

Awesome. I wish I could say more, but that analogy was awesome.

Make "Bobby Kotick" a metonym, and your denial may be less enthusiastic.

For Carnage Apply Within - Fatum Iustum Stultorum

"Do not mistake your rank and number for superiority. The oldest child may learn from the youngest."

Simple answer: To build hype.

Longer answer: To generate interest in the new IP by way of a marketing philosophy centered on sparse information being released over a lengthy period of time, culminating with a (teaser) reveal at a well publicized event. This also generates speculation/discussion of the IP, translating into site hits, consumer interest, and exaggerated favorable reactions to any information released. As other have also noted, there may also have been some consideration given to the Halo franchise immediate post-hand-off, as well as the recently announced Aeroaspace, via an unwillingness to diminish those properties with news of the next 'big thing'.

Nothing meaningful to the IP itself is involved with the management of its pre-announcement information. Anyone saying otherwise is just trying to spin a non-event into something more.

OP - You're a dumbass with the reading comprehension skills of a second grader.

Can someone tell me what's wrong with these two, this made me LOL hard.

It seems to turn me off to posting on the mains really. I don't like it when people keep a secret and wait for a while before they pop out with their brand new "thing". Because from past experience in high school and working at a job, it wasn't as exciting or as great as my employers or club president said it would be.
