Make sure your AV and Spyware programs are up to date, and boot into Safe Mode and run them both (separately). Quarantine, clean, disinfect everything you can, then delete whatever can't be cleaned or repaired. (Make sure it isn't vital first)

Then, quit using Kazaa and Limewire for naughty stuff.

Sure, sure. i usually get those but only because I'm bored and so i look up songs and they end up being a Trojan or what ever it's called.

I suggest grabbing this:

http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1
http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/home.jsp;jsessioni d=ELy4ppS1GgKwCXIhk7L22x7c9qH72MfH4VwZER1Lnc78qa6caLZs!137521 293!-1062696904!7551!7552!NONE?dc=12bms&ctry=US&lang= en

The first one is a free AV software that's very popular among us users who don't like spending a million on Symantic or something of the sort. It provides very reliable protection and receives updates...at no cost to you. The second link is to a reliable free firewall service, go grab that to protect your computer. Don't worry, you can config that firewall to allow Halo.

Oh, and I would stop using Kazaa and Limewire. Downloading stuff from that is sometimes illegal and always dangerous, since there's no set server to regulate where you're getting your stuff from.

Oh, and yes...er...smut is sorta dangerous...I can't exactly elaborate on it on this board, though...

Doesn't matter. AVG can scan your entire computer for you.

Glad to know I helped. Don't hesitate to ask me for help. (Goes for anyone as well) ^_^

yeah it's just a spyware, I had the same problem, all I did was log out, restart, and it was fine, and then I scanned and it showed up nothing for me. I had 5000 pop-up windows, but all I did was instead of closing them out or hitting alt+f4, I just logged out, restarted, and it was good.

Speaking of spyware: this stuff is, again, a free edition of Anti-Ad software avalible for your use. Very nice when used in conjunction with that AV. The Adaware digs through your computer for advertising software and gets rid of it.

All three of them combined, AdAware, AVG and ZoneAlarm, should completely protect your computer from almost all threats. And they all receive free updates.

I prefer to use Spybot S&D. I've ran both AdAware and Spybot at differing time, both will pick up something the other missed most of the time. Neither misses anything dire, though.

Just created an account so I couldn't post a new topic and this topic had just the header I needed...

Everytime I am playing halo pc the game runs fine for a while then all of the sudden my connection starts to flutter and then the game shuts down.. I have all ports opened for Halo no active firewalls no virus' or anything else like that... I think it is either a flaw in the games net code or an incompatabliity or a gamespy dohicky... unsure but if you have had this problem or know how to fix it your help would be most appreciative....

Thanks
Reaper....

Hm...Okay Hbomb and Reaper, you could post in a different thread, but this works just as well, I suppose.

Anyways, your connections themselves could be unstable or unsteady. If you've got 56k, that's likely why. Try to get a better internet connection if at all possible, and check to make sure it's consistent and stable.

As for that text problem, go to your original post for help.

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

Go here first and run the full service scan. That is an official Microsoft site, by the way.
Then go here and download Windows Defender by Microsoft.
Then install and run that.
After that and the service scan, your PC should be fine.
