1. They've taken each Halo game progressively further away from the core of the hugely innovative original, a game pivotal to the success of both console FPS games and the Xbox itself.[/quote]
What? Halo Reach kind of brought it back to core gameplay, same speed, practically the same jump height, health system, fall damage, grenades being the same damage just with a quicker fuse time.
Hell the Halo CE pistol is now coming back to reach, not by bungie's doing but I don't doubt that they didn't think about it immensely.
You aren't honestly trying to compare this crap to CE are you? Reach is the farther game from CE yet. That's like trying to compare a viper to a minivan because they're both red.
2. They add random elements and gimmicks to the game in order to try and attract the CoD community such as armor abilities like Armor Lock and Active Camo, which also slows down gameplay.
Well if armor lock slows down gameplay then jet pack, evade, and sprint speeds it up. Deal with it.
The issue is the diversity should come from the player, not a gimmick. Armor abilities break map flows and slow gameplay by giving people random abilities in battle that allow them to escape or earn cheap kills. Equipment did the same thing in Halo 3, watch out for power drains, camp in this regen or bubble shield. Bungie can't just give us a map and let us play.
3. They added bloom, which is random and also broken as well as being hated by 95% of the comminity.
Where are you getting statistics from? Your neighbor who has been playing halo since halo 3? Obviously he made up the number based off his observations, just because BUNGIE themselves didn't have a number they made up in the news feed doesn't mean we can't draw our own conclusions from observation. I've literally never heard someone go "I love the bloom in reach, it adds so much to the gameplay." It only causes frustration, and it's not what halo's about. Think about the optimal position to shoot a DMR... CROUCHING... Seriously?
4. The removed bleed-through, encouraging double beatdowns instead of gun on gun gameplay.
Bleed-through encourages gun on gun gameplay? I'm sorry, but does shooting someone and then meleeing them sound like gun on gun gameplay? Sounds more like melee reliant gameplay in close quarters to me. Which it still works well in reach given that at all times you have a headshot capable weapon, and can beat the double sprint idiots who try that kind of -blam!- on you. You can't beat a person who has your shields down a little bit and are in melee range "AKA" they get a free kill with very little effort.
You're not even arguing anything here, and anyone against 2 hit melee kills isn't a halo vet.
5. They thought Sword Base and Epitaph were good maps.
Swordbase is great for territories, 3-plot, ctf, stockpile, and oddball. It works great for certain gametypes, not every map works well for every gametype, and not every map should have a perfect slayer variant. Maps have their faults, over examining things and calling it "broken" is the tool used by idiots.
So maps who's gameplay encourage camping with gravity hammers, shot guns, and rockets don't suck? LOL obviously just playing devils advocate here. Those gametypes only work because they pull people out of camping, which is where the maps really shine.
But have no fear community, the title update dropped today, playlists are to follow, and this game will improve immeasurably. bless 343 for saving Halo.
Come at me fanboys.
Whom is the fanboy? The one who methodically hating everything about halo because it's different from the original? Or the one just defending halo and basically saying "everyone has their own tastes, not everyone can be satisfied".
Less QQ more Pew Pew please.
Also this is the wrong forum for this, go to the reach forum, or you can just ask a moderator to move this thread. You're not objective, thoughtful, and you havn't won anything.
Playing devils advocate and declaring yourself a winner doesn't actually mean anything to the rest of us.
