halo 2 still the best game in the series. long live halo 2.

Dam, I miss the old days playing halo 2 with my old brothers in arms. Thank you my old friends for giving me this account, I shall continue our legacy.

Envy, Sputnik, and Grunt birthday skulls were my favorite. My most hated skulls were Iron and Black Eye.

It's a lot harder to survive with overshields on Legendary. You don't play much Legendary do you? BE is a pain in the ass.

Losing internet 9/7/2012 until i don't know when. See you starside folks.

Fada beo Halo 2!

That's a tough one, but i have to say it is the IWHBYD skull, because is was the most fun to get.

Thunderstorm. Ultra Elites are worthy prey. To me, they're like Predators. You kill them, you win a prize every. single. time!

If only they were in Halo 3... then I could have organized an army and get them to turn on me. It would be me, my shotty, and my trusty sword, the plasma rifle.

Man, to choose only one? Each one has something good about it, ya know?

Sputnik alone is a pain in the arse, due to the way enemy ghost fire moves your ghost around and scatters weapons you can then never find after a wraith shot lands. It has no positive benefit other than allowing you to get to hidey holes to snipe from that you can't get to without it.

Catch is a blast (pun intended) because you get to dodge more nades coming your way, and you then get a bunch more to toss around at them.

I like GBP, alot, especially when paired with Sputnik and Catch. The amount of carnage, mayhem and general havoc that you can enjoy watching is just the best! Ah, the fun of a headshot.

Currently I am doing a Black Eye run, what a pain in the butt! Sputnik gotten first, then BE, then Envy, off for catch and famine, maybe ghost, before I go back to Cairo to start it all over and suffer, alot. Cairo with BE on is the absolute worst, which is why I am not surprised not seeing any updates on the SLASO run that Grumpy has been chronicling lately, as Cairo has no shortcuts, no off-map way through the level. You have to kill, kill, kill your covie enemies to progress.......yeah, good luck with all those skulls going in Cairo, never gonna happen. I will be lucky to get through it with the combo I have in mind in less than 2-3 days.

That SLASO came to a screeching halt, lol. Cairo is a monster but Oracle is no walk in the park. Monopoli did finish Cairo SLASO but it was segmented, he died once, near the end. That broke his mind so he may very well try it again at some point.

We had a guy come along a month or so ago and he stated he'd whip the rest of the levels (he's from 343 forum) real quick because he beat Reach and H3 SLASO/Mythic. We haven't heard a peep from him since, lol.

Monopoli showed how to do it. Skip most of the fights and when you're forced, go up close and personal. ;)

But these other ones I have tried and tested and failed:

-Bringing Johnson to the hangar rooms. Pain in the ass and time consuming not to mention that sword Elites present a risk to invincible AI because they might push them through the wall.

-n00b combo, dual wielding plasma rifles, plasma grenade sticks, etc. Medium range combat is rather difficult (but not incredibly frustrating like in Reach) and should be avoided in most cases.

The aforementioned techniques come in handy in the bomb room but Monopoli's method is much more easier although barbaric. Sure they deserve it, the bastards that they are, but if you like keeping your hands clean, you'll have to find another way. I already gave up on finding new tactics. There's one undeveloped one you could use though: going next to the crate which causes Elites to come to your position but there's a chance that one will go up the railing. If you can block access to that railing, you can get them all to come to your position and kill them there. Potentially, you could melee one as he climbs up and then assassinate.

What do you mean broke his mind? :S Drove him to obsession or just got him mad?

He's not defeated but it snapped his head for a while. He'll get back to it, he just needed a break after that one.

I probably should have written that it temporarily broke his will.

Incredible. That he's coming back. :D

At which point did he die? The bomb battle?

I enjoyed that part quite often but there were times when I was about to break into absolute sorrow and rage. I literally might have torn my hair out (Reach always makes me do that though, since it's unfair). And that was only 1/7 of the level, which I had mostly skipped.

Yeah, he died in the bomb room. It's all good though, I just talked to him today about it and he'll get back to it at some point.

I must work on that part then. It's time I start experimenting again (this time no dev trainer because I want Grunt Birthday Party to work). There is a marine hidden in the back. I want to see what happens if I take him out...

I must have missed how you can avoid the battles in Cairo? To my knowledge you do not have doors opening until enemies are dead and there is no way out of the station and then back in other than where you first run into the jet pack elites.

If there is a shortie cut, I would be interested to know it!

?

I never said that they could be avoided. I said I was going to try out test the bomb room battle. As a matter of fact, I only have 7-8 skulls to go and then I can start Mythic practice. And this time, that piece of crap dev trainer's Grunt Birthday Party and bad headshot registration will be replaced by the real thing.

  • 10.02.2011 10:38 AM PDT

All of this LASO talk is making me sad considering I still need 7 skulls.

OT: Grunt birthday, Sputnik. I really don't need Black Eye.
