Currently I am doing a Black Eye run, what a pain in the butt! Sputnik gotten first, then BE, then Envy, off for catch and famine, maybe ghost, before I go back to Cairo to start it all over and suffer, alot. Cairo with BE on is the absolute worst, which is why I am not surprised not seeing any updates on the SLASO run that Grumpy has been chronicling lately, as Cairo has no shortcuts, no off-map way through the level. You have to kill, kill, kill your covie enemies to progress.......yeah, good luck with all those skulls going in Cairo, never gonna happen. I will be lucky to get through it with the combo I have in mind in less than 2-3 days.
.Monopoli showed how to do it. Skip most of the fights and when you're forced, go up close and personal. ;)
But these other ones I have tried and tested and failed:
-Bringing Johnson to the hangar rooms. Pain in the ass and time consuming not to mention that sword Elites present a risk to invincible AI because they might push them through the wall.
-n00b combo, dual wielding plasma rifles, plasma grenade sticks, etc. Medium range combat is rather difficult (but not incredibly frustrating like in Reach) and should be avoided in most cases.
The aforementioned techniques come in handy in the bomb room but Monopoli's method is much more easier although barbaric. Sure they deserve it, the bastards that they are, but if you like keeping your hands clean, you'll have to find another way. I already gave up on finding new tactics. There's one undeveloped one you could use though: going next to the crate which causes Elites to come to your position but there's a chance that one will go up the railing. If you can block access to that railing, you can get them all to come to your position and kill them there. Potentially, you could melee one as he climbs up and then assassinate.

Monopoli did finish Cairo SLASO but it was segmented, he died once, near the end. That broke his mind so he may very well try it again at some point. What do you mean broke his mind? :S Drove him to obsession or just got him mad? He's not defeated but it snapped his head for a while. He'll get back to it, he just needed a break after that one.
I probably should have written that it temporarily broke his will.
