In light of recent happenings in the Flood I thought it would be prudent to ask, why do people feel the need to be elitists about their forum of choice? Why can't people just see the different forums for what they are, ways to keep things organized?

From what i understand of your post, elitism is not quite the correct terminology. I suspect what you're experiencing are people trying to protect their favourite forum from harm i.e spam, flaming etc. and are ill-mannered in attempt to keep the forum how they would like it.

Whilst this is reasonably understandable, i of course agree that acts of bad-mouthing or "elitism" should not be condoned. I think the problem is that people get too attached and when trying to achieve something good and admirable, they go about it in completely the wrong way.

I apologise if i've misinterpreted your post so please feel free to correct me or clear things up.

Seventh Column Contests

I saw those threads about people showing passion/hate for their own personal favorite forums. Those threads were mostly spam so it doesn't concern me too much. It is still wrong for them to make a thread about it and state their reasoning in a very idiotic manner.

If you are talking about ZanzibarRep, than what he does is always known, he is for the most part the only one from Zanzibar that exhibits and takes his, "nationalism" if you will, to that level. Today we just faught back with love and hugs..which was quite funny and heartwarming at the same time. I dont think what that one person does exhibits what Zanzibar is about for the most part, or at least to that extreme.

I doubt that guy even means any of it. More likely than not, he's just found an avenue for spam that he can use as a "theme."

Claiming such zealousy for any forum is rather stupid.

Yeah, it's kind of annoying. I tend to stay in The Flood, though, just because it seems to be the most active and you can talk about anything there.

That may be true in this case but there are many who seem to have a negative attitude to any of the forums they do not frequent. But either way its just silly.

Edit: I didn't think it would be appropriate to make a seperate thread about it but I thought it needed mentioning.I had to put lines in the spaces of the names so it would work.
