NOTE #1: This is an Extract from our forums by the second squad leader,
NOTE #2: And yes the person who said this is a hero.(Gamertag=The Jam Cliche)
NOTE #3: READ THIS WHOLE THREAD IF YOU WANT TO ENLIST FOR 2ND SQUAD. WE WON'T MAKE ANY EXCEPTIONS ON OUR RULES, SO IF YOU FAILED TO READ THEM IT IS YOUR FAULT.
So you wanna join 2nd Squad? I don't take just everyone. I want someone who is well-rounded but precise, capable and determined.
I will expect many things from my 2nd Squad, and my recruitment will reflect these ideals. Before I get started, let me make it clear that I have a firm belief in how a clan gains members. I don't think a clan should judge you on ANY arbitrary subjective measure of worth, be it K/d, age, or household income. Anyone who wants to play as a group and can follow the rules should be welcome to the community. That being said, joining an individual team in a clan is different. I expect a team to be very careful in picking its members, and that is why I'm going to grill the -blam!- out of you to join 2nd Squad.
You must meet certain requirements before I'm even gonna consider you to join.
1. You must be 16 years old. Don't give me any lip about you being mature for your age.
2. You must be a Colonel in Halo: Reach. This should be easily attainable, actually. The game's been out a year. It takes less than 4 days of consecutive playtime - about 600 games, to reach Colonel. That is hardly a large amount for a fan of the series. I don't even play that much and I've reached Hero as of yesterday.
3. You either pick us over your friends or have them join with you in the game. If you're online and a member of this Squad invites you to play, you've got an obligation to join, cause we have to learn to play as a team. In the game, no one will pull rank on you - the party leader gets to choose the playlist or gametype. If no one wants to play what he chooses, he oughtta get smart and pick something else before everyone leaves.
Your K/d must exceed a 1.5 ratio. If you die more than you kill or barely kill more than you die, you're not useful to me.
Now that we have that out of the way, let's list off how these positions will be filled.
Assault:
This position is listed as the well-rounded position in Onyx Division. In my Squad, it's the required one. This is the first and only position you can apply for, and if you fail, you won't be admitted into 2nd Squad. Think of it as your try out. This is also the only position you can test for at any time. The rest can only be completed on certain days. For this test, we will play in a variety of playlists of anyone's choosing. You'll be expected to perform well in any area, to prove your worth.
Specialist Positions
Specialist Positions are titles of designation that you must earn by displaying your experience in the field. You can only apply for one of these at a time, and we will only test one person at a time. If two people wanting to be tested are in the same party with an Officer in the Squad, he will choose who to test first as well as when he is satisfied that the individual has passed or failed. Only then will he begin testing another person, but anyone is welcome to party up with the Leader and the testee during this time and participate. To apply for any of these positions, post your choice in this thread along with at least three different times on three different days that you can guarantee you'll be online and ready for at least an hour. There are three Specialist Positions so far.
Heavy Weapons:
If it's got the word "Launcher" in its name, you better be good with it. We will often test you in playlists like Team or Squad Slayer, or Big Team, and on rare occasions, Action Sack and Team Classic, to see if you can acquire these weapons and use them well. The first thing we want to see is that you can get to them before the enemy (or over-eager random team mates) gets there first. We definitely don't want to die by weapons that should be in your hands. You must have an adequate kill-count related to Heavy Weapons in relation to how often we see you acquire them in each game. If you picked up the Rockets once, for instance, you should at least have three kills.
Marksman:
The Sniper Rifle is one of the most contested weapons in the game. Even your own team mates will try to get this weapon before you. To succeed in testing for the Marksmanship position, you must be able to acquire this weapon and use it efficiently. Each time you have a sniper, you should acquire a kill count equal to half the rounds available and half your kills should be headshots (12 rounds, 6 kills, 3 headshots). If we're playing Team Snipers, your K-d for each game should be positive.
Driver/Pilot:
A vehicle specialist is very important, especially in larger games. Your ability to drive a Warthog or Mongoose is mandatory, but reflects little on your overall score. It's like signing your name. What's more important is being an effective team driver. Be aware of what enemy vehicles are on the battlefield, what level of shields and health your passenger has, and always know a good escape route without crashing. You must also be good at vehicle combat. If your vehicle has driver-operated weapons, such as a Ghost, Revenant, Scorpion, Wraith, or Banshee, you must be able to eliminate other vehicles while keeping yours in good shape. This is especially important in cases where both teams only have one of a certain vehicle. Your team should control a tank while the other team doesn't, or your team should have the aircraft to use while the other team's is destroyed.
