And what makes you stay there?

The Forerunner, the Great Journey, and Heaven Theory

[Announcement Trailer] Halo: Forerunner

Posted by: Agustus
I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

I'll join if I see people I know in the group and/or if the blurb of a description on the group's homepage sounds like something I'd be interested in (this is for groups that don't send me invites).

What gets me to stay in groups (and what's missing from a large majority of them) is activity (to the point of being self-sustaining). I'd like to be able to come and go and jump into a conversation as I please. With some groups you feel obligated to make a topic just so there's something new to discuss (just talking for the sake of talking). Being able to go live your life then jump onto a private group when you have some free time and see that the conversations and new topics are still continuing in your absence is (for some reason) appealing to me.

Or you could just name your group after gemstones and people would join immediately.

I usually join a group if I recognize members that I normally see and are familiar with here in the Community. If the group has a pretty good activity level and does different activities with it's community then I will usually stick around.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

If it is named after some type of well know Gemstone.

Would you say the key to success is to combine the two?

And the Shadow fell upon the Land, and the World was riven stone from stone. The oceans fled, and the mountains were swallowed up, and the nations were scattered to the eight corners of the World. The moon was blood, and the sun was as ashes. The seas boiled, and the living envied the dead. All was shattered, and all but memory lost, and one memory above all others, of him who brought the Shadow and the Breaking of the World. And him they named Dragon.

3: It's active and has cool people in it.

Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

We’re flawed because we want so much more. We’re ruined because we get these things and wish for what we had.

I don't they just interest me, I have my group of friends and that's good anuff for me.

And what makes you stay there?

To get away from you. Even though I don't know you, I don't want to risk it.

“Strange,” mused the Director, as they turned away, “strange to think that even in Our Ford’s day most games were played without more apparatus than a ball or two and a few sticks and perhaps a bit of netting. imagine the folly of allowing people to play elaborate games which do nothing whatever to increase consumption.”

The Black Chapter!

If it offers me something that I can't get in the mains.

All counter-arguments to evolution are based on a gross misunderstanding of the theory.

I must be offered an admin position immediately for me to even consider joining the group.

Sans the gemstone part.

Groups are hard to make work. Obviously the most successful are ones without a specific purpose where users can just post whatever they want. They attract a large enough userbase and have the breadth of conversation to allow the group to thrive (Sapphire of course is a great example of this; it has that self-sustainability). Groups devoted to specific topics don't generally draw a large crowd and keeping any kind of conversation going is tough.

That being said success is defined differently by different people. Some set up groups to accomplish a specific goal (after the goal is accomplished the group will probably die) and some just to try to answer a question(s). Those, I would imagine, aren't designed to last.

In wine there's truth but in silence there's surrender.

I join private groups to get away from the main forums. I usually only stay in a group if it's somewhat active, there are people there I know, and there are topics there that pertain to my interests.

Yo Halo53, I'm real happy for you and I'ma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best bungie.net profiles of all time. OF ALL TIME!

I don;t really join groups anymore. If I do, it's either because its a super cool idea that I'm buying into, or its created by someone I've known around here. I stay if the discussion/people are cool.
