Subject: Why isn't MLP banned in the flood?

Posted by: True Underdog
Personally, I don't think we should put a "ban on pony threads."

Some people legitimately like My Little Pony. I don't understand it. I'm not going to attempt to understand it. However, I will treat those topics with the same respect that any other topic in The Flood deserves, as long as it follows the forum rules.

Admittedly, I do not voluntarily go into My Little Pony threads, simply because I can't think of a single thing that would interest me in those threads. I think a lot of people would be better off if they adopted the same approach, rather than make "drive-by attacks" on those who want to discuss it.

With that said, if anyone ever feels like they're being harassed in any thread, including MLP threads, feel free to report it to a moderator. I can't promise that I'll get to it right away, but I don't mind going through those threads if people are being jerks; however, some of you use the terms "trolling" and "flaming" a little too loosely. I think I have a pretty strict interpretation as to what constitutes as harassment, but sometimes it seems like people are reaching a little bit, even for my standards.

Topics like this come and go. A year ago it was "ban all Beiber threads," before that it was, "ban all Rock vs Rap threads." This is an ongoing trend in The Flood. Eventually, MLP will be off the hot seat and you guys are going to want us to ban another topic. Believe it or not, people want to legitimately talk about things that they like, even if you can't understand why they like it. Those topics shouldn't receive any special treatment, either.

This was asked before. The same could be asked about MW3, BF, Pc and Xbox...

It really shouldn't be banned unless it is spam, just the mods need to keep an eye out for these threads. Almost anything can cause flamewars. And haters are gonna hate. It is an Off-topic forum, people can discuss what they want as long as it isn't religious, political, pure spam, or anything illegal.

Bronies have their own private group to discuss anything pony related, there is absolutely no need for them to go post ponies on the Flood.

I agree that they shouldn't be posted on the Flood in large threads, as most of them are usually planned from the pony group. But i don't really care if it's a picture or something.

Also, a lot of times the threads fall into chaos with people that dislike MLP flaming those who do, generally when that happens the thread gets locked or deleted.
you still mad bro?

What evidence do you have to support this Thor? I know you hate the Bronies around here but that's pretty low even for you.

Haha no
I was intending to leave the group the next day and decided to go out with a bang or something. I'm not mad at any of you childrun. Mad is something i don't do.

@Kezia
Last huge pony thread was created by you Kez, and had a rapid number of posts from people in the group, so ya know, theres the evidence. And i guess you still don't understand i don't hate anyone from that group.

I only have one question about this; would you suggest simply reporting posts or sending a PM to a moderator if said poster is a multiple-offender? I know plenty of users who are guilty of this.

Posted by: True Underdog
Entirely up to you. I don't mind my inbox getting hit with reports on threads and harmful posts. Alternatively, you can catch me on MSN, too (address is in my sig). The report feature is also a useful too, so like I said, it's entirely up to you. As I mentioned, I, personally, won't be able to get to it immediately, especially when I'm working but I make an attempt to get on Bungie.net regularly when I'm at home. You may want to try to PM whoever appears active, but I really doubt anything that could be posted in there, in regards to harassment, needs to be dealt with immediately.

Thought that would help.

Woops. This has already been posted. My bad >_<

Last huge pony thread was created by you Kez,
I didn't plan that in the group, hell I put together and decided to do the whole thing myself. I was attempting to create a central thread and keep all pony discussion from the Flood in it, clearly it didn't work out the way I'd hoped because I underestimated the level of immaturity there.

There was a rapid number of posts by just about anyone signed in at the time, of course it's going to attract more posters that are interested in discussing the topic. Still not sure why it was deleted by I'm not going to get into that.

And i guess you still don't understand i don't hate anyone from that group.
So deleting us all off of Steam after you left was out of love? Ok then...

You can't ban people just because they have a strong opinion about a certain topic. It isn't against the forum guidelines. Therefor, it is perfectly acceptable.

Then why is political/religious discussion prohibited?

Because that's what Bungie decided was not appropriate to discuss on BNet. They don't need a reason, really.

  • 09.23.2011 3:57 PM PDT

It's prohibited because they felt that discussions would get blown out of proportion.

I think political and religious ideology is a tad more of a sensitive topic than say... animated ponies.

This thread by far contains the most stupid per post I have seen in some time. All of you should be ashamed for participating in such a stupid thread, and those of you who didn't get banned should be glad you weren't, nearly everyone posting in here deserves at least a 3 day ban.
