You need to know the IP Address of the person who is hosting. There is no quick easy way to connect to a server like Xbox live, or mariusnet for Myth or an in game menu like most Online enabled FPS. This is because there is no server. It is possible to play Marathon online (this summer I played against my friend when I was in East Lansing, Michigan and he was in Indianapolis, Indiana). But because everyone who wants to connect needs the IP address of the host, it is much easier to play a LAN game than over the internet.

Wow, i didn't know it was that difficult back then. Isn't there a site that hosts games, and has the IP address on the site?

Well, if my memory serves me correctly, originally Marathon was a LAN only multiplayer game. It had different ways to connect, but there was no universal server like the original bungie.net for Myth. So back then, the online multiplayer option wasn't really there.

The ability to play over the internet is something added in AlephOne. However, it is still easier to have a LAN game than an online server. I remember something like a suggestion in the Septagon that there should be a sticky post somewhere for AlephOne players who wanted to setup online games, although it isn't really Bungie's responsibility to organize that.

At present there is not a site that organizes and coordinates online multiplayer Marathon games that I know of. I would say that the best way to get an online game of Marathon started is to take the initiative and go look for people who want to play or convince your friends to play and have a LAN party.

Okay, well thanks anyway. Has anyone in here downloaded the High Res Textures, and have gotten them to work? Because I followed the directions, but the graphics still stink.

Yeah I know it's not going to make it look like Halo, just crisper, and that's ok. But sorry, could you explain it a little better? Like tell me the exact places you put what files? Sorry I just can't get it to work, thnx.
