Yeah, it's pretty bad; mostly because the Mod knows that everyone will agree with them and often uses it to their advantage.

but he didn't win? Nobody won... there was no end. He didn't respond to my response to his demand.

I wish I could get in argument with a mod.

Why? It's not super fun. It's like arguing with anyone else only people usually take their side (surprisingly not the case in mine with TU last night, but I digress).

I've actually got a script that checks Bungie.net every day to see if there's a post about people using signatures in their posts. Then I come and post something like:
yeah lol i hate people who use signatures

-tgp-

because that seems to be the most logical joke to make in a thread like this.

Instead of doing that, I'll just make a proper argument: why exactly is it attention whoring? When I started doing it it was because I noticed everyone calling me "GP" or "Pretender" and crap like that, which for the former clashes with other user names like God's Prophet, and the latter sounds stupid. So I started putting -TGP- at the end of my posts as a subtle way to get people to call me something less stupid.

Of course, at the time I didn't know it was an often used term to define a particular type of -blam!- site, but whatever. In any case, I did it for a reason, and while the reason pretty much went out the window about a year into posting, it turned into habit and ritual and something I didn't feel like stopping.

In any case, it's not "attention whoring". I'm sure no one who has seen me post in the last ~7 years I've been here even notices I'm putting it there. I'd get more attention if I stopped now.

Of course I'm known as "the guy who puts a signature at the end of his post" and I'm mentioned in every one of these stupid threads, but I bet less people would've noticed if I wasn't a mod as well.

In any case, no, I'm not stopping.

Stuff like that is CLASSIC. I do get what the OP is getting at. It seems like some people do it to get the attention of others, rather than being known for the quality of their posts and / or contribution here.

No, because when or if your account ends up being deleted for activity (which doesn't happen anymore, however I will continue) then people will be able to tell who that "Anonymous User (Deleted)" was.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

I agree with the OP. Everybody who signs their posts should be banned for it. Every person that I know who does it is a total prick.

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Your arguments in the OP against signatures are all very convincing, but it's nothing to get worked up about. It's just a little extra text at the end of a post.

I personally don't sign my posts, but it's not like they are a problem, unless it is one of the occasional ones that have links to the user's YouTube channel or something similar.

What is it with the Community Forum and "I think this should be banned" threads lately?

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

This is the stupidest thread I've seen all week.

Why should they get banned? Because it annoys you?
