This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

Next-gen fusion-plasma hybrid power system.
Atmospheric insertion systems.
Slipspace de-insertion capability
Active AI transfer protocols.
Limited shaping of the energy shield.

I have so got to read Halseys Journal.

But the part that interests me the most is the Slipspace de-insertion capability. Could you expand a little more on that for me please?

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

I myself don't quite get it either. Sounds like a feature for a Spartan to jump out of a ship in Slipsapce safely.

Would make sense, but it boggles the mind to think a single suit of MJLONIR armor could repel the extrememly high levels of radiation output during a slipspace transition. In First Strike, the Spirit was fitted with thick led panels to protect the Spartan's, and even then it barley held.

I dont know, dosent make much sense to me. The keyword in that sentence is ''de-insertion'' though. Which would kind of sound similar to exfiltration. But then again, we'd be stuck at the start, as the suit needs to be able to withstand the slipspace transition...

Meh.

The SPARTAN project will surely continue in the future, regardless of Halsey's consent or involvement. But not right away. Resources are scarce as is Human life in general. Everything will be committed to rebuilding, at least for a little while. If Halsey makes it back, then maybe she'll try to continue her work. But something tells me she's going to be focused on the Forerunner for awhile. Also keep in mind she hasn't much time left, she's a pretty old chick by the end of Halo 3. More likely is her finding a way to have a successor continue what she started. Or successors. Most likely candidates are the Spartan II's and washouts. Or one of the equally rare surviving Spartan III's.

The Innies aren't that big of a threat anymore. Even then, there are still over 300+ Gamma Company S-IIIs to combat the threat.

They need to focus on re-building an effective fleet. With recent discoveries and captured technology, they could probably begin implementing shield technology onto ships, upgrading weapons...They would probably churn out a few ships, re-establish society, ship yards, economies.

A spartan project would be a long way down the list. I also think the rebels would be absorbed back into Earth government. They are not so stupid as to attack an already dwindling species much less their own. I don't see humanity recovering to a powerful member of the galactic community for at least 100-200 years easily.

i think they will build a IV program when there forces are almost back to full strength, unless halo 4 has the UNSC getting into a massive war again.

  • 09.26.2011 5:09 AM PDT

I think a lot of people are ignoring how successful and effective the Spartan program was during the war. This simply effectiveness is merit for another program in the future. I mean the Spartans were one of the only truly viable threats against the Covenant and are likely to be just as effective against any future enemies as well.

Again, there is still a whole company of Spartan-IIIs who weren't on Onyx during the Battle of Onyx. A new program would be very expensive and the resources are practically non-existent.
