Oh boy...

The money I have should last long enough to pay employees all the way through the launch for our first game and I'm hoping that game brings in some money.

so he left you a few million

No but I shouldn't need a few million to start off with a small game like for the pc or a smartphone game.
If I can do this first game well enough then I should be able to make some money off it.

I highly doubt that they will come and comment here. Even though they are very awesome people they have been known to be a tiny bit greedy. They probably would see you as a mere threat to the 7 steps.

lol I would be flattered if Bungie thought I was a threat.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Why don't you assemble a group of talented designers and partner up with Bungie on Bungie Aerospace.

Thats actually not a bad idea and I already was considering it but aren't aerospace games free?

Five years older and wiser
The fires are burning, I'm fire, never tire
Slay warriors in the forests, and on hire

But seriously, no one gives a -blam!- if you have loads of money. In this day and age you can create games with no money at all. So this thread is irrelevant. If you wanted to make games you would go out and do it rather than say "I have money" or "I want to make money from it".

Hey there.

I wouldn't mind doing some concept work for you if you would like me to, I am not from America but all my work can be submitted to you if you would like.

I am not amazing; I am still learning, but the option is there in case you need it.

Here's some of my work:

Give your inheritance to EDOET, that's a very successful thing to do with. It would make your grandfather very proud, I'm sure.

Don't -blam!- with Kerser!

I always wanted to be a game developer when i was a kid. I started a course in game development. The worse 6 months of my life. I got a career in astronomy instead.

Starting a studio now is hundred times difficult then starting one fifteen years ago. I don't think anyone can help you here.

Dude it shouldn't matter if Aerospace games are free or not(most likely but I dont know for sure, check the website.) as long as you get your name out and have fun. If you are just looking to make a profit and not a great game at all then you will be no better than the -blam!-s at hollywood rehashing old movies or make unnecessary sequels.

Have fun making a game, which should be something you would want to pay for yourself if you didnt make it. I would recommend making programming friends and art friends and find some that want to make a great game and have fun with it. Hell, Alex Seropian was a computer programmer when he met Jason Jones and started up Bungie, even though Alex was the business end which I think is something you want to be.

Ask any question. I'll help with anything on site or off.

Get money, go to collage, and get some knowledge.

This is why Aerospace exists, btw. USE IT! I'm sure Bungie would be glad to help out an aspiring Community member.

Honestly, if you are serious about this, I would first start talking to people that know how to run a small business. Game companies start and fail so often because most fail to grasp the business side. Sure, having some game ideas, programmers, and artists helps, but if you have no concept of business, the company will fall fast.

Things I'm talking about it how you are going to pay your employees, health benefits, retirement options, costs to run the company, risk assessments, etc. It would also help to think about getting a marketing manager or an agent that will promote your game, though you won't need that until well into the game design.

Best of luck to you!

Have you seen my mind anywhere? I seem to have lost it...

0x0 x0x 0x0 000 000 x0x 000
x0x 0x0 0x0 0xx 000 0x0 000
x0x x0x x00 0xx 0x0 x0x 0x0

I have seen you future

What I would suggest doing would be going through college, save the money you have for now. After college work for a game company for a little while so you can get a feel for the industry. After working there for a couple years then you can start your own company when you have the resources and the knowledge.

I don't see the point in jumping into it with your own studio

Most smart people would get experience in the field working for someone else, while gathering knowledge of what it takes to run a studio, then branch off and make their own

Seems like a waste of a lot of money to start your own so soon.

Listen to this man. He knows what he's talking about.

Get into indie game development ^_^

There's plenty of free resources, including whole game engines to start building portfolio with. You don't necessarily need to pursue a degree, but is always something to think about, and when you do it will be worth it. You need experience to make anything stand out from the crowd in today's market.

I understand nothing because my life is a conspiracy.

If I were you, I would use the inheritance to go to college, work for Bungie, then donate a good portion to Bungie so they can make awesomer games. If you want to make games you got to have ideas, too.

Only after we ban Bricypoo.

That is what I would expect a bungie worker to say. Since there is great risk when going into any type of business now a days. Unless you really know what you are doing it is extremely difficult to start a successful video game company now a days.

Don't

Theres risks in everything and I can't allow that to stop me. If I try and fail then at least I tried. But I truly believe my ideas are genuine and if I get the right team together we might be able to create something that catches on with players.
After that it might be easy to get some finding for a new project along with any money we make from our first game.
I already have an empty building that is mine and it will work as a goo make shift studio.

I was, but your mom left early so I had to cut the trip short.

I know you and a lot of other people may have already seen this, but please watch this video first before consider the impossible challenge of creating your own game studio.
The worst thing you could do is waste your grandfather's inheritance because of poor decision-making.

Key

Major in Business.

Minor in Computer Programming.

Assemble a group of people at college who are really good at what they do and would be willing to help you out. "Connections" if you will. Those first two things are what you really need.

Also, go in with an idea about what the hell you're going to do. I don't mean a game idea. I mean an idea for the layout of the entire company, and remember, you're a company first. Make something profitable. Don't make a super obscure game that might be VERY well produced but not so massively appealing..

Not saying you have to make a CoD remake, just don't get ridiculous.

I'm betting $10 it's that "So you want to work in the video game industry?" video.

EDIT: Yup. Fork it over, Ceylo.
