Subject: Why don't we ever see forerunners in-game?

"Halo, it's divine wind will rush through the stars, propelling all who are worthy along the path of salvation!"

We hear about them, but never see any.. are they dead?

  • 09.25.2011 11:37 AM PDT

oh i dont know, all canon says is they went extinct tens of thousands of years ago....

  • 09.25.2011 11:39 AM PDT

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

Because those that didn't die from the Halo Array left the galaxy.

  • 09.25.2011 11:40 AM PDT

Wuh----BLAM!!!

We might see videos of forerunners in halo 4 if it takes place on shielded world thingie or something xD

  • 09.25.2011 5:14 PM PDT

You can see them in the H:CEA terminals

  • 09.25.2011 5:59 PM PDT

I am a monument to all your good deeds.

The halo rings killed them too. If you watch halo legends they SACRIFICED themselves. They all died 100,000 years before the halo games.

Generalizations.
Helping idiots hate other idiots since people have existed.

Yeah... They activated the Halo Array 100,000 years ago, killing themselves. You can't see 'em if they're dead.

I lol'd
I did too.
But they aren't all supposed to be dead. Some lived and left the galaxy. People said it was because of the flood. But I think it was because they ran out of shrooms. If you ever watch Legends you would have to be on shrooms to watch it.

They didn't kill themselves, read Cryptum.

Cryptum is BEFORE they fired the halo array.

That being said, a lot probably died when it fired. There's no way to know for sure how many forerunner lived on after halo fired, how many it killed, etc.

Gamer nerd with a girlfriend! EAT THAT BIATCH!!! :P

All the forerunners were killed when they tried to destroy the flood. For Halo veterans, you would remember in halo 2 near the end of the story, the Arbiter asks Guilty Spark what happened to the forerunners, and he says they all died, as was planned. Therefore, they're already dead.

  • 09.26.2011 1:39 AM PDT

I lol'd at you exlpanation

They're not all dead. Most of them likely were, yeah, but there was a sizable amount of survivors that left the galaxy.

This is Sparta!!! eh I mean Reach ^^

because they were supposed to have vanished when the Halo array hit them. Though they had built several shield worlds so actually there could be survivors of them.
And when 343 says that in Halo 4, Master Chief will face an ancient enemy/threat, it could be either the forerunners or the precursors. Forerunners were described as noble and peaceful, but what we did not know yet until the book Halo Cryptum is that mankind was once even more advanced than in 2553 AD.
So humans and forerunners were fighting each other around 160.000 years ago. mankind got defeated because they were also fighting against the flood.
So if there are still forerunners alive in the Halo universe, they surely would consider humans as a threat/enemy, because humans are an aggressive and imperialistic species.

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Bungie wanted them to be shrouded in mystery, which is why they left so much about them unknown and never had images of them or flashbacks to their time.

And then Cryptum was like, "lol look @ these 4runnrz gaiz lolololol"

  • 09.26.2011 5:01 AM PDT

well you obviously have not been paying attention to any of the games

No, ExcessiveFaun6 is not my real gamertag.

Cortana: The message just repeats. "Regret, Regret, Regret."
Miranda: Any idea what it means?
Sgt. Johnson: Dear Humanity... we regret being alien bastards. We regret coming to Earth. And we most definitely regret that the Corps just blew up our raggedy-ass fleet!
Marines: Hoo-rah!

I don't know about you but I've seen a couple...you know they're those guys whose emblem is a black hexagon with a shooting star in it?

Partial correct however, you're wrong on all forerunners being dead. SOME of them left the galaxy, it suggests that since 100,000 years, it's likely Forerunners recovered to its former empire status.

Please, read Cryptum, especially last part.

oh i dont know, all canon says is they went extinct tens of thousands of years ago....

Umm... not all of canon said that. Some of it said that Forerunners did not went to extinction. They simply left the galaxy.

Watch this also read Cryptum, the Forerunner's aren't all dead they left the galaxy just as the Precursor's did before them.

He threw down a glove you made the mistake
Of picking it up now you're gone
The choosing of guns or fighting with swords
The choice of weapons is done
He'll tear you apart as soon as you start
You know you don't have a chance.

Maybe the same reason that we don't see Vikings nowdays...
