This is Sparta!!! eh I mean Reach ^^

Hello everyone,

for those who also have watched Halo Legends (episode: babysitter) and wondering why the architecture structures seen on that planet which is claimed
neither to be human nor Covenant origin, i think i have found the reason why they look very Asian and romanian style, like built by mankind.
Because they were built by humans! It must have been constructed before the human-forerunnerwar, somewhen over 160.000 years before the end of the human-covenant war (26th century).
As our known mankind history only dates less than 10.000 years and the forerunner defeated mankind (who were almost as advanced as they were) and stripped away all their technology and banned them on Earth again.

Agreed, nothing in Halo Legends can be taken too seriously in my opinion. Also, the forerunners completely wiped out any traces of human existence. I doubt a species that literally builds worlds would have the oversight to forget to destroy these structures...

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

That episode of Legends gave me a headache.

OP is correct. They are ancient human structure and NOT creative license.

I'm pretty sure there is a quote from Frank at 343 from another forum stating that the structures were not forerunner but another civilisations.

At that time the legends ep was just shown and we didn't know about ancient humanity.

(I don't have the time to find the quote but im pretty sure some1 will have it to hand)

Correct OP. Those are indeed Human structures.

Then why did they say they were neither Human or Covenant even though they clearly look Asian

The writers of that episode weren't focused on creating new plot points or mysteries, they focused on expanding the already established canon.

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

You give the Forerunners way too much credit in terms of intelligence.

Franke confirmed they were not Forerunner. Since they were not of a crystaline appearance (and therefore not Precursor) they were human.

You do know that 343 and Franke manage everything halo related that includes signing off the Legends stories and visuals (have a look of the making off episode).

The links above clearly show him confirming they weren't covenant or forerunner.

At the time we all thought precursor but we now know ancient human.

It's not Forerunner if you listen to what the ODSTs say.

Completely untrue. Many of the Legends episodes, including that one, were specifically planted with new mysteries for the future fiction of the Halo series. Very shortly after Legends released another piece of fiction (I believe it was the addendum to Fall of Reach) mentions basically the same fact: that the humans have found on a planet, one that they've never been to in all of known human history, ruins that have Asian, Middle Eastern, Greco-Roman, and other human architectural features.

The mystery to me still from The Babysitter is why the ruins were so huge. The stairs those ODST's had to climb in that part of the episode were almost too large for the current humans to even use. Could just be a decorative thing, but it seems kinda odd from a writing standpoint to just throw that in there as a decorative thing.
