For example - Everytime someone posts in a thread you created, quick link apears in top corner.

Or if someone quotes you in another thread it notifies you allowing you to know if when people replied and also so you can reply,

Maybe even have a '5 last posted in threads' on the left hand side so you can jump back easily and check them...

EDITED: For the haters:

This would be very convenient, and for anyone who doesn't like it, there could be an option to turn notifications off.

You are fast. Yes, I agree with this. I forget about threads constantly, even ones that I start. The last 5 threads options sounds like the best option. People seem to dislike notifications for some reason.

Someone said it would clog things up, but I'm looking at plenty of space on the borders.

My thoughts exactly, When i say notifications i don't mean somthing flashing up in the middle of your screen people!

Somthing subtle or that appears on the side after you refresh the browser.

I think the main issue might be notifications. I am not sure what type of coding it would take. That might be too big an overhaul. The listing of threads off to the side should be simpler, since that's something that already exists.

I think this would be a good idea, but it would need to be collapsible.

No.

We can't have anything convenient like that because similar features exist on Facebook (a known social networking site), it would be abused, and it doesn't promote or encourage discussion at all (because bungie.net isn't "about" anything else - only discussion).

Besides, why can't you just add every user on Bungie.net to your friends list on Facebook and get them to post on there when they make a reply to you here? Or simply open up your recent posts and then look through every page of every topic you've posted in?

Stop wasting the Web Team's time by trying to turn Bungie.net into a giraffe by suggesting my CD drive is a flying purple people-eater.

I was a finalist :P

It would carry certain discussions along, especially when a user leaves to check another thread that interests them. No harm in attempting to assist discussion on this on site.

“Strange,” mused the Director, as they turned away, “strange to think that even in Our Ford’s day most games were played without more apparatus than a ball or two and a few sticks and perhaps a bit of netting. imagine the folly of allowing people to play elaborate games which do nothing whatever to increase consumption.”

I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

Posted by: dazarobboThat is a poor attempt at sarcasm given this is apples and oranges...

A feature like this would actually benefit the community as a whole (faster responses, not forgetting about threads; all leading to better conversations on the main boards) whereas a friends list / private messaging could foster a movement away from the community by encouraging users to restrict both the content they see and contribute to the community to themselves and a select group of friends. As the user becomes the primary focus (via new features) the community diminishes in both its role and appeal (how many people would prefer to use a Facebook Global Forum to discuss things when they could just discuss them with people they are already acquainted with?)

Not everyone is afraid of change and/or ignorant. Some people have legitimate concerns and don't deserve to be derided for voicing them (after all, I would assume everyone wants to see the community be the best it could be).

I think I was following along until here. Then I knew I was lost.

OP doesn't seem to want Facebook like features. I think the most recent threads on screen isn't so bad.

No, I do not want to join your clan/group.

Of all the suggestions I've seen pop up lately for enhancements to the site, this is the first one I can actually agree with 100%. Maybe we'll get lucky and Achronos will pop in and give us a yay or a nay on this one.

Actually it sounds more like a programmed response. That is almost word for word what Achronos told me about this matter a year or two ago.

I understand that this is the most usual response and that Bungie.net is not a social networking site(although, it slightly is).

I'm willing to bet that they already have these ideas and are either contemplating implementation or have already scrapped the ideas.

ATTENTION MODERATORS. My latest ban (14-day ban from Qbix89) is not legitimate, take a look for yourself. Please review this before considering me a "repeat offender". Thank you.

Out of all the ideas that appear in this forum to update or improve Bungie.net, less than 1% of those ideas are even considered by Achronos, much less implemented.

There's nothing wrong with healthy discussing. Just keep this in mind.
