The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

I only agree with the notification when you get quoted.

If you have a thread and it gets replies, you are bound to see it sooner or later at the top.

Wake me, when you need me.

No.

We can't have anything convenient like that because similar features exist on Facebook (a known social networking site), it would be abused, and it doesn't promote or encourage discussion at all (because bungie.net isn't "about" anything else - only discussion).

The escapist has notifications. Are you saying that they're a social networking site?

Their notifications work like the OP described. It sends you a notification if someone quotes your, or when people reply to your thread. You also have the option to turn off notification completely.

OP, did you actually get this idea from the escapist?

Of course there will be plenty of you guys against this idea for no legitimately good reason what so ever. You guys are not very good at adapting.

For example - Everytime someone posts in a thread you created, quick link apears in top corner.

Or if someone quotes you in another thread it notifies you allowing you to know if when people replied and also so you can reply,

Maybe even have a '5 last posted in threads' on the left hand side so you can jump back easily and check them...

EDITED: For the haters:

This would be very convenient, and for anyone who doesn't like it, there could be an option to turn notifications off.

i posted the exacted same thing

Besides, why can't you just add every user on Bungie.net to your friends list on Facebook and get them to post on there when they make a reply to you here? Or simply open up your recent posts and then look through every page of every topic you've posted in?

Stop wasting the Web Team's time by trying to turn Bungie.net into a giraffe by suggesting my CD drive is a flying purple people-eater.

BLASPHEMY! These slanderous lies shall not go unpunished! TO THE GALLOWS WITH YOU!

No, i've actually never even heard of 'escapist'.

I was just playing my xbox and on the forums at the same time, every few games i was going back on b.net and i couldn't even remember what threads i had posted in(since i was posting alot) or they had already moved down to the second page(which is where the thread notification would help out)

So what do you want? A little tiny Earth in the corner of your screen to turn red every single time that somebody posts in a thread that you also posted in?

No, any time someone quotes you- such that, you can keep a discussion (if any) going. This idea brings so much convenience to users.

Instead of us going through every thread we post in manually (i.e wasting time), a user receives a notification, giving the option if they want to see what others inquired about their post.

How about a sentbox or a recent post history for your private groups?

sentbox- (I know there is the iPhone app which I have but not everyone has it or has an iPhone.) And also because I always delete my messages on this site because I don't really like clutter.

Recent posts for Private groups- So we can see what we posted in private groups. The way I see it, it would be the exact same as the "Last Forum Post" link on your profile, just with private groups.

Five years older and wiser
The fires are burning, I'm fire, never tire
Slay warriors in the forests, and on hire

It's the usual argument. I don't see what new features will detract from the site. If you don't want notifications, you ignore them. Bam.

Not if you have 60 pages of saved threads. Which reminds me... there should be a "clear all saved threads" button.

EDIT: oh wait, I found it!

No reasonable person should have 60 pages of saved threads. That's way too many threads to be following, I guarantee most of them are dead threads. And the point of the save threads feature is to compile a list of threads to follow, if you have a notification system in place to be alerted to whenever someone quotes you in the threads you're keeping up with, it eliminates the need for the saved threads feature.
