I never heard of Infinity before this. I hope the ship's motto isn't something along the lines of "To infinity and beyond!". If it is, I would cringe more than the "To war" line.
It does seem a bit soon though. We found out about the Forerunners in 2552 and all of a sudden we understand it enough to make a ship using it in 2553? Am I the only one who see this problem?

I have, but apparently to the Waypoint folks, and certain individuals here, that makes me too judgmental.

It took Halsey, one of the most brilliant scientists ever known, almost a decade to reverse engineer Jackal Shields to produce MJOLNIR shields. Without the benefit of Halsey or Cortana the UNSC has nothing to base their studies on. Cortana and Halsey are arguably the two most knowledgeable people on the Forerunners and Covenant and neither of them are around to help out. Big plot hole if you ask me.

SILENCE THE NONBELIEVER!

JK, I agree completely.

Maybe they had access to the elite tech post-Halo 3?

I knew the UNSC would be in Halo 4.

Most UNSC sips have some sort of mystic feel

Infinity. There you go. Have you FORGOTTEN about the UNSC ship called "Say My Name"?
What about "Grafton?" Where does THAT come from?
But why do you automatically assume "Infinity" has no meaning?

Say My Name

Way to read my post.
Because unlike Say my Name or any of the others I listed it has no large, imposing quality or a dramatic feel.

That's just about as symbolic and important as the Grafton Highscool.

Seeing as how some of the folks are Australian, doesn't surprise me.

So "Say My Name" has more imposing quality and a more dramatic feel than "Infinity"?

We are SERIOUSLY arguing about this?! Once again, AHEM.

Like I said: history, mythology, locations, or just neat.

Edit: Yes, in my opinion. It could refer to any number of people or possibly may refer to a mythological being. Infinity is merely a quantity (albeit a large one) or a unit of distance/time.

Yeah actually. Say My Name invokes more of a in-your-face quality than Infinity, which makes me think of Buzz Lightyear and/or math.

I perfectly understand the symbolism behind Infinity. It represents how humanity has so much potential and so many years of progress ahead of us post-Human-Covenant War. I still don't care for it when other names sound much better.

That's the Halo syndrome talking. Hate anything new that is revealed. Until it grows on you, of course.

Not really Ruby. I just think something like UNSC Jacob Keyes or UNSC Preston Cole are better candidates.

That would just spell out tacky among Halo fans.
Everybody on these forums would constantly be clamoring about how the name is so cheesy.

This one wouldn't. I think it would more fitting for two of the war's biggest heroes to get what is supposedly one of the best ship in the UNSC named after them.

Seeing as how 343's fanboys will embrace and love everything they do, doubtful.

It's just too random and out of place. Too have their full names, at least. It'd be reasonable for their last names to be the ship's names, just not with their first names inculded.

343 doesn't have any fanboys.
Don't quote this, and say that I am either.

You don't need fanboys with actual content. Just look at the Halo Waypoint Forums and the Reach Forums praising 343 for doing...well nothing. They say 343 has saved Halo and will be much better than Bungie. It's not an isolated incident.
