hello everyone. i just "samegraded"(what i mean is that it was pretty much the same specs, just new processor comatibility) from my dell 2400 w/ a 1.9Ghz processor to an eMachines T2958. i transfered the RAM(maxed @ 1Gb), a GeForce FX 5500 PCI card(no AGP or PCIe slots, Coolbits overclocked), and just installed a 2.39Ghz intel celeron D processor, all in a new pimpin case with a blue fan. so goodbye to that evil old dell, and i was wondering what u guys might suggest me upgrading next(and not a soundcard, i am happy with what i have now). any suggestions

I'd get rid of the celeron, and the fx 5500. Go for a p4 instead, celerons are junk and crap for gaming.

yeah you're not gonna have any fun with a celeron, so you should get a new mobo so you can get a new processor, and then put a good video card in it (eh em, agp or pci-e), and then if you're maxed out at 1gig of ram with a new mobo you can more than likely get more ram.

um yeah.. that's gonna cost a lot, so just don't listen to me unless you have money

Emachines. HAHAHAHAHAHA!

In all seriousness, though, Emachines aren't exactly the best things around, especially for gaming. They're the notorious low-budget computer manufacturer, and until recently, they're known among techies for using low-tech stock pieces in their machines, including Celerons, Integrated chipsets, minimum RAM, etc, etc. I had a T-1090, way back from the times when gray cases and rounded out towers were the "cool" thing. Even back then, it sucked. Now...it's ancient.

If you're looking into processors, see if you can get an AMD processor stuck into that thing. They're better for gaming.

ok...no you cant put an AMD in it. Theyre different sockets. It would be like trying to magically plug a videocard into a socket on your wall. They have different amounts of pins and wont work.

eMachines= A poor man's computer.

Upgrade to at least a 6600 GT, and get rid of that Celeron. Celerons' blow for gaming.

Unfortunately I think you are maxed out. If you only have PCI slots you have the best card available, I think. Your next upgrade should be a new motherboard/AMD CPU combo that has PCI-Express slots and can support SATA drives. Then you can upgrade peices from there.

try Pricewatch , it is a great site to find low prices. Newegg usually has the best prices on the internet.

i think your stuck with that no matter what. You cant upgrade mobos on manufactured computers unless its through them, or you just buy a whole new computer and keep that case. When you buy a computer (ex dell, gateway, hp, ect...) the bios has alot of options locked to keep noobs from screwing with the settings and breaking the computer. If you dont know what your doing its easy to accidentally see overclocking and think, wow my computer can go faster, but then end up frying it. But basically, theres not much upgrading for you, I'd just save for a whole new pc.
