Link fixed for OP.

And yes, I knew it was the E3 video before even clicking it. The beta BR seemed fun.

The E3 Demos for any game are mere demos, not normally sneak peaks of the actual games themselves.

If it was a sneak peak so to speak then they would risk turning people of at the start. Besides, at that point in development, Bungie didn't actually have a true Halo 2 plan...

I doubt their ideas would have all been based upon the demo, even though I do agree that it is pretty nifty.

In their ViDoc they said this level was too advanced for the Xbox V1.

Would you mind citing that for me? I'm interested in looking at that source material myself, if you don't mind. I'm not disbelieving you, just curious.

Halo 2 > Halo 3 > Halo 3 ODST > Halo Reach > Halo CE

Based on campaigns.

Since im a kind of a 'noob' and only started out with halo 3, when i saw this video i thought this is what the game was actually like, it looked epic, then i got it and was really let down

This

They had set their sights far too high. The demo doesn't represent a practical use of a practical engine; I seem to recall someone from Bungie once stating that they had to sketchily deload things in ways that would never make sense in-game in order to get the demo to work.

So, they scrapped a ton of stuff and built something that would work. This also meant dropping the entire massive epic third act and sticking a bandaid in its place.

Maybe that's why so many people dislike Halo 2, they saw this video.

Well I still think if the Metropolis level had been the trailer and we played the E3 version for 7 years there would be an outcry for Metropolis at this point.

Well, when I really looked at it as if I'm playing, it would be a rather short level. It's hard to tell for sure how good that level would have turned out because I think they would have made the level longer, similar to the 2 main maps in Metropolis. Metropolis would have been way too short with just the city fighting and likewise the E3 trailer level would have been lengthened.

But there were only a few l; longer level throughout the campaign, also in the actually version they included a new vehicle the Scarab.
