Alright, there may be a few exceptions, and certain individuals MAY like Halo: Reach campaign (which goes beyond me, as I couldn't find any single positive aspect in the whole campaign).
Sounds like a personal problem. Trying to say the game must suck and those who like it as lying to themselves makes you look like a complete dick. Which is ironic coming from me.
But it's still unfair that those who actually liked the Halo Universe created by the novels were literally ignored, in order to create a new story for new fans to appreciate.
I think that's why Bungie didn't outright say this was the end-all interpretation of the events. The events in the books still exist, but the game itself is structured like someone's interpretation. Both sides can have their poison.
There are very few creative individuals, like Leviathan, who create awesome stories, but in the end, it's just a fanfic, it's not really part of the canon. No matter how many theories you guys make, it all ends being a theory which can be immediately contradicted, while the books did have clear facts about the story and, before Reach, fitted perfectly in the canon.
There's no possible way the books and this game can co-exist, which is sad, because I liked this story, and how they managed to create a feeling of destruction, struggle for the survival of humanity, desperation, etc. People seem to think that it makes no sense that Reach fell in one day, and that's one of the main reason they love this game, they can't see beyond the battle, what Reach falling in one day really meant. They are really close minded.
Nihilus Shadow made a pretty good timeline in the Waypoint Forums.
You could've just said all of what you said in this post, but no, you had to be a colossal jerk.
