Subject: Will we ever know the original ending for Halo 2?

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I remember Marty said he still has the audio files/other parts of what was the "original" ending for Halo 2.

Do you ever think we will hear the ending audio and extras for it?

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

I don't think there would've been a satisfying way to end it.

Don't -blam!- with Kerser!

One day my friend, one day...

Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit,
Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line,
Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it."

We shall hold out hope but I think Marty probably won't release it. Besides Halo 3 was actually supposed to be the final campaign levels for Halo 2. So technically Halo 3 would be the release of the original ending of Halo 2.

smart, interesting, seems out of place.

Official fan of Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, (Problem with that?) Halo, and Bungie, also a total gaming junkie.

They should release them. They don't own Halo anymore, so there is no reason not to.

"I will show you how a true Prussian officer fights!"

"And i will show you where the iron crosses grow..."

- "Cross of Iron"

I think in Bungies last panel they said they would never release it.

Do not waste your tears, I was not born to watch the world grow dim. Life is not measured in years, but by the deeds of men.

We should know better, because we are better.

They said it is the saddest ending they ever made. Must be big.

The ending of Halo 2 is basically a stretched out Halo 3. Think of Halo 3 as a really long ending.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

The final true ending for Halo 2 was on April 14 2010, April 15 for some...

That day the best online competitive FPS to ever hit a console/PC with internet capabilities for gamers to interact was shut down, and Halo never regained its glory even to this very day.

H3 was not a good follower to the level of competition H2 spawned, but it remained very competitive and has skill gap.

Reach was an utter epic FAILURE in every way that a Halo game can be.

Halo 2's true ending to me was TEAM HARDCORE CTF on Midship. I went 20-8 with 3 flag pulls, 2 captures and we won capturing all flags and opposite team scoring only 1.

Then like the ending on Terminator 2 when Arnold is lowered down to the hot lava-like boiling metal, my Spartan 2 (sniff sniff) with his right hand on a BR-55 (sniff sniff) and his left arm raised high with pride (sniff ...sorry.. this is hard for me to say.....sniff) his left hand motioned a "Thumbs Up" gesture then some static on the screen then a small dot....and blip..total darkness, connection lost, unable to connect to xbox live. (cue the sad Terminator 2 song..bumbum..bum..bumbum........bumbum..bum..bumbum.)

And now Halo has been in total darkness since that day with H3 failing to recapture the glory and REACH being the final nail on the coffin of the giant franchise. Yes sir that ending doesn't get any sadder than that. Where were all of you on the day The Great XBL KING died?
