Speaking of chuckles, let's all lol at IonicPaul, who makes friends with bugs to make up for his lack of human contact.

I've been on bungie.net for almost four years now, and for a while, I thought it was just a black hole that sucked up free time and ruined my grades in school. Most of my time spent here was reading the Halo 3/Reach forums and getting involved in so many stupid arguments that got nowhere because no one would listen to appeals to logic.

I've realized now that bungie.net has helped me greatly. My argumentative skills are almost unmatched by any of my peers in school. I'm in an AP English class, and the whole rhetoric/underlying assumptions deal just comes naturally to me now. In essence, all these stupid arguments helped by making me learn how to argue a point against an opposing viewpoint with valid arguments that you have to break down to get anywhere (not everyone on bungie.net is illogical; just most of the people you argue with).

Basically, I'm saying that bungie.net has handed me a free A in AP English and the skills I've learned will most likely come in handy for the rest of my life.

Has anyone else had some sort of experience like this? Where bungie.net has had a serious effect on your life?

I don't know; maybe the hypothetical you is highly impressionable, and you just end up following advice from the Flood. I can't think of anything, but that's why I asked: To cover things that I couldn't think of.

If anything bungie.net has helped me improve my netiqutte skills.

Bungie.Match.com: Our Johnson knows what the ladies like.

Before Bungie.net, I sucked at writing and typing. Now that I've been here exactly 1.5 years, my typing has improved dramatically, and so has my spelling.

I'd like to be half-man half-tree in an octopus' garden in the shade.

Negatively for sure. In the past, I've used this site to procrastinate homework, and it's probably affected my grades quite a bit. However, I've been getting better at not procrastinating recently, thankfully.

What a hipster.

It was more Firefox's spell check feature that helped me out when I was younger, but Bnet gave me the place to put the tool to use, for that I'm thankful =).

While I did not learn my superior adroitness of the tongue from Bungie.net, I must admit that my tenure as a loyal user to the net has helped me develop my thoughts more clearly. I have applied this skill to most of what I do in life now, and am happy. I should say, Bungie.net has been a good mentor to me, however odd that may sound. Thus, this network of fellows has influenced my personality quite positively.

Eloquently put.

I actually understand that last section very well. I went through a very angry stage for a while, where if I saw anyone saying something that I disagreed with, I called them stupid. Needless to say, that got me banned, and that fact sort of sobered me up, and I learned to respect the first amendment, for lack of better word.

I've discussed games here, met some cool dudes, tolerated the scrubs.

But ultimately, it's still a video game website. It has had no positive or negative effect on my life, if any effect at all.

Still is somewhat of a negative impact, in both work and studies.

I do tend to have a bad habit of "time management".

I understand nothing because my life is a conspiracy.

I'm better at arguing, or "debating," things with my friends. The only problem with some of them is they won't stop unless you shut them up with an inarguable statement that holds to much truth they can't deny it. Who knew that these "Master Chief is Noble Six/Jun/a Women" threads would be so helpful!

Edit: Also helps me on sentence structure and spelling because I hate the "texting" language. You know, like, "GR8 2 B WiT U." Disgusting . . .

Has anyone else had some sort of experience like this? Where bungie.net has had a serious effect on your life?

Positively;
-I have met some of the people I now know as friends through B.net / private group. I have met a few of them in person.

Negatively;
-I spend time on here that I should not (like right now) where I should be doing the tasks before me on my desk, but I am posting this instead.

-I now have knowledge of how depraved and immaturely some people wish to behave toward other people for their own amusement. I would have been better off not ever being exposed to this.

Neither of these are B.net's fault, but the user(s).
