Games such as Deadspace or Left 4 dead didn't exist

Games like Alone in the Dark, Clocktower, Resident Evil, and SILENT HILL did.

I was 8 when I played Halo for the first time, it was Halo 3, I was not not scared at all.

P. S. I had never played a video game that was that terrifying before (if you don't count Metrod Prime as terrifying).

Well OP... you were probably one of those kids that upped the brightness on your tv to max...

This.

Halo 2 flood was worse IMO. But when the Master Chief viewed Jenkin's log the first time, I pretty much shat my pants.

Halo 3's Flood are not scary at all. If you had played CE when it was first released, you wouldn't understand.

It's only a matter of what you played first. Don't be like that.

I was super brave and I didn't even get scared once! Honest! Combat Evolved is overrated! People are dumb for liking old games! They should be like old people and DIE! LOL

Believe what you want, child. Combat Evolved was/is an excellent game. At the time of its release, it was atmospheric with some of the best graphics out there. And I thought the Flood were spooky (nothing more) in 2001... as a someone who had never before seen graphics of that caliber.

I seriously doubt anyone was terrified of the flood to the point where they avoided playing the game for a month. Halo was never a horror game. It just had some successful horror elements implemented into the first game.

Maybe you should get over yourself, OP? I doubt anyone seems to think your post was intelligent, meaningful or interesting. Your typing skills indicate that when you played the first time, at the age of nine, that it was not 2001 but 2011.

Nope. Halo 3's Flood wasn't scary, Halo 2's was borderline, CE was legitimately scary the first time.
Also, Halo 3 came out when there was scarier things being put into games, for CE, the FLood was the scariest thing to go into a game to that point. The ESRB gave it a Mature rating solely for the Flood.

So no, it is not a matter of what you played first. Don't be dumb.

I think the ESRB gave it that rating because of all of the killing that happened around you with all of the multicolored blood flying everywhere.

Who the hell are you to say what's scary and what isn't, since "scary" is subjective.
If he said Halo 3 was the first Halo game he played, and he thought the Flood were scary, then they're damn well scary to him.

You're basically going on like: "No you're a whiny baby for thinking HALO 3's Flood were scary. HALO CE IS FOR REAL MEN!"

I was always scarred not just of the flood, but the way they swarmed out of everywhere, how you were always running out of ammo, never finding the way out, its not just them its there whole aura of desperation and wrongness.

I may be short, but my heart is tall.

I was seven when I first played through, and I wasn't scared much at all.

The only time I've ever been that scared by a game was by the Berserker in Gears of War. I got to that first one and didn't play for months until a friend came over and helped me beat it. I would have been twelve then, I think.

  • 10.03.2011 9:43 PM PDT

honestly, i didnt get the halo timeline AT FIRST then i was like.. the fuhh? and i just played the game...

  • 10.03.2011 9:51 PM PDT

I only think that they are pretty scary when they jump out of random places and you don't expect it. Like in Halo 3 when your just walking around some corner and then they jump out at you.

Yea the flood is about as scary as a -blam!--eyed black guy shuffling towards me in a dark, inner-city alleyway. Actually that is pretty scary.

The Flood in H1 was tough, immune to headshots, extremely hard to beat down and really did come in floods. Watching the Flood overwhelm the Covenant during Final Run during Two Betrayals is still an amazing thing to watch.

Halo 4
Pre-order complete.

No, you're obiously confused.

First of all, A Gray Yoshi said that Halo 3 wasn't scary.

Then, Obi Wan Canoli said that Halo 3 & Halo 3 flood isn't meant to be scary.

After that, Ruby of the Blue said it's about which one you played first.

So then An Hero compares the amount of gore with the flood to the amount of gore that people were commonly exposed to in the social media.

And now you're saying that "If he said Halo 3 was the first Halo game he played, and he thought the Flood were scary, then they're damn well scary to him." But he DIDN'T think that they where scary."I was 8 when I played Halo for the first time, it was Halo 3, I was not not scared at all."

All they they meant was that compared to the violence and gore one is exposed to today (war, zombie movies, etc.), Halo 3 is basically NOTHING in comparison to the gore of these. But in 2001, those things were not very popular, if they even existed.

  • 10.04.2011 12:37 AM PDT

I was 13 when I first played Halo and the Flood didn't scare me. Only thing that "scared" me was how they kept coming and coming and coming and my ammo counter was going down and down and down, while trying to figure out how to get out of the complex of 343 Guilty Spark.

"I am in a timeless chorus. Join your voice with mine, and sing victory everlasting." - Gravemind.

Believe it or not, I was 6 when I first encountered the flood, and I was scared of them simply because of their zombie like apperance and sounds they made.

But these days, I think of the flood as bullet monkeys that make you waste your ammo.

O_O Gore was extremely prevalent by then! In movies, videos games, whatever, there was a lot of gore. You're confusing 2001 with 1940.

And let me rephrase what I said. It depends on which Halo you played first and/or how young you were.
