Subject: Why does everybody think John-117 is the last Spartan alive?

Hello friends xd

I mean there's Jun, Gray Team (i think it's the team marked as MIA), and there's a little possibility that Noble Six may have survived, there isn't any proof that Master Chief is the last spartan alive, so why do humans think he is?

  • 10.03.2011 8:58 AM PDT

As far as Noble Six goes... Did you finish Reach? If not, I would suggest that you do.

  • 10.03.2011 9:01 AM PDT

Hello friends xd

Yes i have, i own Halo Reach. at the end you don't see him getting stabbed by the Elite, and he's said to be a Lone Wolf and Hyper Lethal Vector like Master Chief, so he may have somehow survived by killing the elites

"Where ere thou hast been, here or in yon world manifest? Canst thou tell what is, or what was, or what is to come? No thing shall last. Yet there are some things that will never change. History is written in blood, yet are battles really lost on the battlefield? Canst thou tell me where thou comest, and where thou goest, and what is, or what was, or what will be? For everything remains, AS IT NEVER WAS."

There is no possibility that Six is alive. This is one of those "vague" deaths that I think teeter completely towards "He's dead." Even if Six somehow managed to take out those seven Zealots (I doubt it,) there were very likely many more around that would have killed him.

But to the topic, I think it's because they read the back of the box for the games, and are too lazy to explore other media.

all hope has been lost, they stole my banshee

Halo

You are the last of your kind. Bred for combat, built for war, you are the master of any weapon, pilot of any vehicle... and fear no enemy.

this is standing on the halo universe page, at the bottom of that page, i think this means that S-117 is the last spartan alive.

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

He isn't though.

It wasn't seven zealots. IIRC, it was two majors, a minor, two ultras, a zealot, and one unknown. (from what I just looked up on youtube.)

The only way Six could've lived is if allied forces arrived (extremely unlikely), or if he pulled a lucky move out of his ass like Chief can.

Bet you can't stick it =)

Tiever900

Because too many non-experts/rookies misunderstand easily... And Death of Noble Six sort of touched my heart at end of Lone Wolf. Good ending thought. my opinion.

Why fight fire with fire when you have water?

Because they don't see/hear about any other Spartans...

"It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me."

Halo: Combat Evolved was marketed as you being the last of your kind. Halo 2 and 3 never made any mention of other SPARTANs either, so for those that never read the books and went beyond the games, the only SPARTAN left is the Master Chief.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

:)
The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Read the books and get informed.

While I can understand this perspective - from those who haven't read the books - it's something akin to remaining in one location devoid of outside contact. While they may think that there's nothing else out there, the reality is that there is much more out there.

I think what the OP's gripe is, and I share it, is that this question "Is John-117 the last Spartan?" continues to pop up despite YEARS of it being clarified and discussed that no, he is not.

  • 10.04.2011 3:30 PM PDT

Because Master Chief is the only Spartan featured in the trilogy, without mention of any other alive.

  • 10.04.2011 7:19 PM PDT

and "pro" is a term used for people who make money at what they do like a professional baseball player like albert pujols

i <3 science cookies

Kurt-051 Spartan-II. He was alive during Halo 2. Died to save His team when entering inside Onyx.
Lucy-B091 Spartan-III. Is alive with Halsey inside Onyx.
Tom-B292 Spartan-III. Also with Halsey inside Onyx.

  • 10.04.2011 7:35 PM PDT

the only reason it says that you are the last of your kind is because the chief thinks that he is the last spartan

Bungie.Match.com: Our Johnson knows what the ladies like.

Many of the people that say that have only played the games, and haven't read the books.

Right, but you've forgotten a veeery important fact: Master Chief is a SPARTAN-II, whereas Jun & co(not George, but he's dead anyway) are SPARTAN-III's. To put it simply, all the other SPARTAN-II's are supposedly deceased or MIA, which leaves John 117 as the last 'true' spartan, a SPARTAN-II, even though he is now MIA too after halo 3.... :)

Strange?!! When I play multiplayer I see lots of them! :P
Only joking. :D

Do you know what kind of hat I'm wearing?

A party hat; you don't get one. An honor will this party be, a party in your honor, for your honor. Some of Tfear's personal guards are going to be there. You'll be introduced shortly.

Prepare to die.

Because Bungie intended John to be the last spartan, but the books changed it up.
I'm not sure if Bungie had a lot of control over the halo books.

  • 10.05.2011 3:03 AM PDT

Most people skip through the cutscenes and don't pay attention beyond what is necessary. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people thought Noble Six was actually a young Master Chief.

Um... So a soundtrack name = what Bungie wanted for canon?

That's very shaky evidence. Anyway, if they didn't want other Spartans around, they would have just killed them all off during Fall of Reach.
