Everybody seems to think Ripa wouldn't be an arrogant ass and not use his cloak.

His personality is clear, if he has a opportunity to stroke his ego, he'll take it. He could've easily killed Forge during their first meeting if he had stabbed instead of slashed.

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Everyone thinks that that makes one shred of difference. Remember how many Energy Sword blows from multiple Elites and combined fire it took to bring down Tartarus? Ripa has one shot before Tartarus knows instantly where he is exactly and turns him into Lizard Puree. As well you're neglecting Brute's sense of smell and hearing which would allow him to easilly have at least a general sense within a few feet of where Ripa was.

My money is on Taratus. It took the Arbiter(Thel), Johnson and a bunch of Zealots to kill him. It took one human soldier to kill Ripa.

Bacon

Well if Tartarus has his shield then obviously noone can kill him in a 1 vs 1 battle.

Ripa: Get your stinkin' paws off me you damn dir---

*choking sounds*

God shield>Swords

That shield kinda makes any fight impossible really, assuming no PBR.

Tart smashes him with Rukt.

Tart wins,

That 8"1' buisness is rubbish. I know it was on that card that came with the game but Elites are 8'6" on average. So how does that work? That would but Ripa at about 9"3'. Tartrus would still be stronger but NOT by a large strech. Ripa would be quicker and and just as aggresive so in a fist fight I reckon Ripa would win.

Ripa: Get your stinkin' paws off me you damn dir---

Was that a Planet of the Apes reference?

Ripa: comes from a planet with 1.3g gravity
Tartarus: Comes from a planet with 2g gravity.

Guess who has strength, speed, and endurance bonus here? The brute.

DeaFaron, don't expect logic to penetrate these two. They still believe all Elites are the stupid height of nearly 9' when every.single.source. states otherwise and has done so for 10 years now.

Are you inclined to argue with everyone? I mean, every sensible person here elected Tartarus, does that mean you have to find everyone who disagrees and argue with them? Can you not accept others have different opinions?

Oh, part two. 7'4" to 8'6" does not = 8'6" average height. Math fail.

I also do not see how this is arguing, I'm simply stating facts.

Isaiah. M

"Man is lucky to be ignorant, for if he new the truth it would either destroy him or drive him mad."

Well although I think it would be an awesome fight, im pulling for Ripa Moramee, and heres why: 1. although elites and brutes are both about the same size (on average) its been said that brutes are physically stronger than elites, now if your a devout fan of the halo lore, you'll know that elites are more agile and faster than brutes, so in the speed departement Ripa wins. 2. Now looking at their weapons the Gravity hammer wins in sheer destructive power, but the energy sword is equally deadly as its been stated to cut through "virtually anything" (as it cut through Johns armor like butter, which is made of Titanium A grade diamond weave reflective armor plating). So in terms of weapons I think their evenly matched. 3. Now lets recreate the scene: Standing in the halo control center is tartarus, demanding that Miranda activate the ring with the index. Ripa Moramee, runs around the corner, energy sword in hand and brute blood spattered all over him. Turning around Tartarus eyes the weary looking elite and smiles, knocking Miranda to the floor and slinging from his back his gravity hammer. Ripa straightening up, pulls out his second energy sword and sets in a defensive stance. Tartarus sensing an epic battle rushes forward like a fraight train, barreling down on Ripa, hammer hung over his head for a downward smash.
Ripa side steps and slashes and Tartaru's sides but his shields hold under the attack, kicking Ripa away wih his tree trunk legs, Ripa looses his breath and skids back. Swinging his hammer sideways towards Ripa, the elite ducks underneath his strike and shoulders Tartarus to the floor. Wasting no time, Ripa jumps on Tartarus, both swords ready to pierce Tartarus's heart. Rolling out of the way just in time Tartarus, stands up underestimating his oponent. Ripa freeing his swords from the floor below, charges at Tartarus, yelling an elite battle cry. Tartarus unready for the sudden attack is hit with blow after blow, until his shields are reduced to nothing, and he falls to one knee. Ripa looking down at him is unaware that Tartarus was only fainting, and is hit with a direct hammer blow sending him flying backwards. With both their shields down, they stagger to their feet, ready to kill each other if necessary, running at each other full speed they meet half way before passing each other and standing still. Tartarus staggers and falls on his face his heart pierced by one of the swords. Ripa standing triumphant kills mirands and activates the ring mumbling to himself: "i wonder why Tartarus didnt just do that O_o...oh well...ON TO THE GREAT JOURNEY!"

And that would be the battle between Ripa and Tartarus U_U

Not to derail the thread, but speaking of size, why do I constantly feel like I'm the height of a twelve year old through Master Chief's visor? Why do I get the feel that I'm so short when playing Halo?

Like with the railing on the road of Tsavo Highway, my brain thinks of the rails as being no taller than a kid, when they're actually half a foot taller than a Marine.

  • 10.05.2011 2:48 PM PDT

Um... Bigtime... Sorry to say but your facts are wrong.

Brute average height: 9'2" (2.8 meters)
Elite height: 7'4" to 8'6" (2.2 meters)

The brutes are not only taller, but larger and more muscled as well. Coming from a planet with a decently higher gravity (2g), they'd be faster, and stronger. Not to mention endurance that goes along with both details.

Not only that, your battle removes Ripa's main weakness. His arrogance. He fights to cause pain, not to kill. He takes every chance he can to insult his opponent, or stroke his ego. He underestimated his opponents as well.

Yes; I saw the new movie recently, so that reminded me of it. It seemed fitting here.

Brutes are the epitome of physical prowess in the Halo universe, Elites are not faster, even John states so in First Strike.

Sometimes, I dream about cheese.

tartarus has that invincibility ability so unless ripa knows he has to disable it with 3 beam rifle rounds, he is screwed.

Listen I just believe that reducing the hieght and other things of a main chracter in a story due to external factors (multiplayer) is just plain silly. Call me stupid but when I talk about Elites I always consider them 8'6" when they weren't effected by online gameplay. And for that whole Brute is faster cos book said so, would you agree that Elites are over 3 metres in hieght? Cos that's what's in the Reach and Onyx.

If im correct the Halo Ce manual was technically the first Halo book, It says Elites are 8foot 6.I go off that.

I'm going off the beastiarum. Which came out with Halo 3.

It states the height range of Elites, and 8'6" is the top end of the line. 7'4" to 8'6" does not equal all elites being 8'6"

And the book never said "All elites are 3 meters tall."

You fail to provide evidence that Elites were purposefully made shorter simply because of MP.

The Halo CE manual said thats Elites were 8'6 average, Just sayin.

  • 10.06.2011 3:17 PM PDT

And the Halo CE manual was one of the first bits released. Go to waypoint, go to the elite page. Does it state "Elite average height, 8'6"."? Nope. It says "Elite height: 7'4" to 8'6".

Compared to the brute's average height of 9'2"
