-Forum Search; it would be quite handy to find topics, topics wouldn't senselessly die off and be recreated so much if this were implimented. I know I don't want to doCTRL+F then <name of topic>, then next page repeat several times, and I'm generally patient.

-User Preference Filters; when posts become repeditive like "how old are you?" in flood, or "modding" in zanzibar, and you'd prefer them not consuming your screen.

The search is definitely a good idea. But a filter...I would probably never use it.

Search has been confirmed as an upcoming feature. I'm sure there'll be half a dozen members waiting to use a certain phrase, so I'll let them.

How would the filters work? It's a good idea, but it'd have to allow members to type in certain words to avoid - which could also censor some interesting threads. It could work if members had to categorise their threads (eg. age survey, halo music, etc), but even if Bungie went to the trouble to implement that - I couldn't imagine most of the members even bothering to use it (and lots would most likely deliberately abuse it).

I'm saying a simple list of words you could put into that posts that contain them, would be ignored for you. And it potentially blocking interesting topics, is up to the person setting his own filters to perfect, which is why I refered to it as "User Preference." And people deliberately abusing it? I don't imagine people purposely trying to get their threads filtered. Typically when people do some sort of abuse, they generally want to publicize it. And even if they "abuse" it so their threads get filtered, you wouldn't want to see their topics anyways.

[ADDITION]
Oh yeah, the ability to close topics you start would be great.

I was thinking that people might abuse the features to deliberately get around filters. That was only with categorisation. I do agree with you that spammers seek attention first and foremost. As I said before, it would be a good feature. Of course, the policies on bumping and such would have to be lifted or modified (say somebody filters Halo 3 threads out of the Underground, leaving a couple of oldskool threads half a year old), and there could be some confusion between members. Apart from that, the populace would probably be far happier.
