July 15, 2008... The day the timer stood still.

On the right side of each thread it says how many replies there are in each thread. Well then why not have it say how many views there have been? Some people make threads for the sake of being popular, and this would probably help more. Unless there's a reason why bungie.net doesn't have it (like slow servers and stuff).

It would be nice.

Only nature can enslave man and only when the existence of each last entity is routed out and made to stand naked before him will he be properly suzerain of the earth."

Mourne not your comrades who must dwell / too strong to strive -
Within each steel-bound coffin of a cell, / Buried alive;
But rather mourne the apathetic throng / The cowed, and the meek -
Who see the world’s great anguish and its wrong / And dare not speak.

Yeah, you pretty much answered your own question with that one. Generally, Bungie tries to avoid anything that can cause a popularity contest. People would just post threads to see how many views they could get. It would be pretty ugly, more than likely.

I think it would be cool, but there must be an obvious reason not to have it. I just don't know what the reason would be.

I honestly can't think of any reason to have it, save for statistical purposes. It would be a total waste of time implementing, really. Who cares about how many views a thread has? It's completely irrelevant to user interaction, unless of course a bunch of threads emerge with variations on the title "lol lets maik teh 10000000 viewz".

Runnnnnn!

It would be cool, but that would generate lots o' spam and attention whores.

If what you're saying is that we should help these people who want popularity, then surely this is wrong; they shouldn't really be bothering to make a thread just for the sake of being "popular", should they? That would completely defy the overall purpose of all threads and would probably lower the quality of threads made.

If on the other hand you're saying that this views count would help combat and stop people posting threads to be popular, then please explain this because i don't understand how that could be.

I personally see no use in the feature other than a rather trivial statistic.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

Bungie listens to its fans! ^.^ | Ninja .II./ You
RCG: In ur base, steelin' ur flagz. | Watch the demo, then join the carnage!

There's no real reason to do it, and possibly a couple of reasons not to do it.

I'm sensing an obvious conclusion here... =)

I agree that having a viewed number is not a good idea.
