I can't be bothered reading the OP. I might have if there were paragraphs rather than one giant blob of words. Here:

Earlier today, I was in a party with some of my friends, and we had decided to enter the MLG playlist, something whose existence I had previously been aware of. I briefly departed from my console to acquire a beverage, and upon returning, I was, to my surprise, confronted by the "MLG" experience: DMRs, power weapons (being hoarded by the other team), Custom Powerups, and virtually nothing else; Motion Trackers disabled, and Sprint usage disabled for ten seconds after respawn. Most of the game had effectively been stripped out!
We had been matched with a party of very high-ranking players (the lowest of whom was a Nova), and, predictably, we lost. I was too confused and shocked to even care about the loss (or the other team's juvenile smack-talking via post-game Xbox LIVE messages).
What particularly stands out about the experience was what I heard in-game, via Proximity Voice. Nearly all of the opposing players were breathing heavily (the players, not their Spartans) as if they had just completed a triathlon. The sounds of chewing and potato chips were loud enough to be unmistakable even over LIVE.
The most striking thing my friends and I overheard, however, was one of the opposing players in an argument with his mother (this having taken place in the post-game lobby). The exchange, which I am retying from memory (and so details of this account may be incorrect), went like this:
Woman: HEY, [player name], get out of the basement, shave, and get out and get a job, you worthless basement dweller!
Player: [unintelligible reply drowned out by my and my friends' laughter]
Woman: [unintelligible] FATASS [unintelligible]!
Before my group even had time to laugh at the rest, the entire opposing team rapidly departed from the lobby. I was rather curious, and so acting on the recommendation of a friend I have chosen to retell this experience here, so that you, the Bungie.net Community, may provide your commentary.
Out of curiosity, by the way, what are your opinions regarding MLG -- league, playlist, and population?
