"Through the fog the army moves on. Pushing through borders. Knocking over obstacles. Killing all enemies. Victory is secured, brothers, march on until the flag rises over the landscape."
The Holy Council

In cutscenes like the intro to Halo 2, are the Honor Guards parts of the map, stiff scenery figures, or are they alive?

They don't seem to move. Are they biped?

I know they are at 'attention' but they don't even breathe.

I'm talking about the ones standing - like when the brutes are dragging Thel to the Mausoleum.

I'm talking about their scripts. Are they objects or are they actors?

Lol, they know what you are asking. It's a good question but I doubt very many people could answer that and know what they are talking about. They could simply be normal except there's no scripting for movement. I guess they could be considered both.

I'm guessing that they could be called body actors (they don't talk or really do anything), but no one plays them in cut-scenes, so I don't know what to call them.

yeah i think only the Halo 2 team at Bungie could answer that one correctly. lol, since you fight some later i would say they're actors. :)

I just checked the introduction map in H2V gravemind 1.5.

Looks like the honor guard Elite only has a render model. No collision, animation, or physics. Not even shields.

This is actually the stupidest thing ever posted on B.net:

Why does everyone hate Halo 2? Maybe its because its the worst game ever next to mario.

Maybe a mod might cheer you guys up. The honor guard councilor has been explained. I apply that to Elites and I get an Arbiter army (hopefully not stripped of armor).

halo 2 still the best game in the series. long live halo 2.

Dam, I miss the old days playing halo 2 with my old brothers in arms. Thank you my old friends for giving me this account, I shall continue our legacy.

Those honor guards remind me of the Buckingham palace guards. What a stiff bunch they are, silently standing still for long hours.

So they are alive. They just don't fight.

And to those who say "Fight them later"

There are more than one versions of the same character. Those elites aren't even the same rank. There are Honor Guardsman and Honor Guards of the Covenant. The ones who stand there with the staves (Long rods with glowly stuff at the end) are (...of the covenant) and the ones you fight are Guardsmen.

So it's not the same character. Not even the same colored armor. Covenant ones are darker.
