Subject: The community since the darkness

Only after we ban Bricypoo.

I feel as if it has given me a new "perspective" in the community. Because I had always heard about previous "community drama" in the past but never seen it. Lately I have really seen it come to effect more and more. I have really felt like it is completely stupid how some members will look down on others.

I wouldn't call my self a "famous or "popular" member but I feel like I can still do something in this situation. I understand that some members on this site will annoy each other but that is no reason to treat them badly. You can simply just ignore them and continue on with your day.

The tide is turning, brothers! Let us take our kingdom back!

There's certainly an increase in uninformed users asking questions about this darkness.

I probably have to agree with you. Although I basically only ever notice the mythics and people with high titles. They just seem to post more and about more appropriate things then the rest of us 'members'.

I thought activity would drop way off, but it really hasn't. At least, not as far as I've seen.

Relax. I'd rather not piss this thing off.

The dark times are upon us, and this darkness will make this community closer than it ever has been before. I recognise many people who frequent these forums.

*reminisces when the Bungie/Halo community wasn't made up of CoD kids*

The Reach forum calmed down.

A soldier is only as strong as the weakest link in his/her unit.

I stopped logging into this forum some time ago,no reason in particular just had things to do that took up my time.
Since my return I would say I see less related content although I still see this forum being useful to me and others.

My friday nights are a hollow shell of what they used to be. Cold and alone without Urk's weekly updates. What do they expect me to do on a friday night? Socialize?

But there has been less activity on the website than what there used to be. Like people left the site until something was said about Bungie's next title. And the Reach forums had a significant decrease in the population.

An interesting take on the thread... However, please try to remain slightly more on topic.

I think the community is hurting (population and activity wise) from Bungie being dark mostly because of the fact that most people are impatient. It hasn't really effected me personally though.

That's quite interesting, and a bit different from what others are saying. What exactly do you mean by the community is hurting? Quite a few members seem to feel that the drop activity and members has been beneficial.

Many of the Users that have not been here too long, they probably do not see any kind of changes.

That may be it true, but it is still strange that quite a few people claim to have noticed very little, to no change, while others sound as if they have noticed quite a significant change.

I thought activity would drop way off, but it really hasn't. At least, not as far as I've seen.

Is that in the Community Forum, or as a whole? To me, it seems that there is slightly less activity, as a whole, although it has not been as dramatic a decline as I had anticipated.

yolo? -blam!- that! YOLTOSS!! You Only Live Twice or Some -blam!-

Since Bungie went dark I've been mostly perusing and posting on The Flood, which is in essence the purgatory of this site. Community activity has decreased but as stated in the OP it has allowed the more active members to "feel" each other out and get to know each other better.

I think the negative impact is negligible. The members who have drifted away will come back or new members will replace them. It is hard to tell if the new members that have joined during this blackout will prove to be quality long term members, but that is not my concern, as long as there is enough positive activity to keep the site up and running.

Sent though space to find a sacred ring, fate brings all together some day.

I haven't Been on the Forums Lately, So It was a bit of a Shock to see people not Spamming stupid answers that require my Ultimate wisdom. That said, it isn't THAT BAD, Like somebody up there said, it forms a closer knit community.

TL:DR; Darkness kind of a good thing.

Personally, I used to log in only on Fridays to read weekly updates and check the forums for something of interest. Now, I'm here daily. Mostly because I don't want to miss anything new that might be announced.

"The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ,
Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit,
Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line,
Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it."
-Omar Khayyám-

Bungie is using the darkness as the hammer for which we are being formed and made ready as their sword to bring about the completion of their seven step plan for world domination. All the impurities that were with us(the ones that have left) were burned away and we are now a sharpened blade. We still have some time before we have reached perfection in our form so for now, Bungie still hammers away with the darkness to make sure we are very close knit and become what we always had the potential to be. When the time comes for Destiny to be announced will be the final time in their furnace and Destiny shall be the cool water dip as we are finished in being crafted into their blade. For now, we look to the stars as we journey through the darkness as brothers and sisters till the stars shine down and light the path to a new journey in a new universe, on a new world(s).

You imply a level of control over Halo: Reach matchmaking that we no longer have. Or, in your vernacular, it isn't our shiznit anymore.

Active 9/1/11, Heroic 12/25/12

I think only the "weaker" part of the community decreased in numbers, we get to know the more active part of the community better now that the site is dark.

So you've become more active since Bungie went dark? I probably have too, actually, but that's just because I'm trying to contribute more. I guess the community as a whole is less active, because quite a few members have left., not necessarily because individual members are less active.

That's quite an interesting way of viewing what has happened, and pretty accurate.
