We are all going to get banned aren't we?

The only issue is i didn't ask you or anybody else to answer them, i clearly said that 343 needs to explain these things not you.

My honor student can beat up your honor student.

The data drops aren't so much answering questions as they are giving fans the basic knowledge they need to fill in the gaps with reasoned inferences. Not everything will be explained in perfect detail.

Those who want 100% confirmation on nit-picky details probably will never get them. Especially the radiation complaint. Not only is this game 500 years in the future, but we also don't know all of the circumstances surrounding the event. There might not even be an answer.

Some people need to accept that not everything will be explained or will work with our current understanding of the Halo Universe. Regardless, these Data Drops are good starts.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

Especially the radiation complaint. Not only is this game 500 years in the future, but we also don't know all of the circumstances surrounding the event. There might not even be an answer.

Lolwut?

Why would this game being set 500 years in the future make any difference to the effect radiation has? We know exactly what circumstances were surrounding the event - Noble was in a big open room of a building when a Covenant carrier fires its glassing beam upon New Alexandria, 90 million roentgens are produced and enough force is generated to knock out the shields of Noble and send them falling to the floor.

Why they were not instantaneously disintegrated makes no sense...

This is a perfect reply. It explains it just as it is. :)

Maybe for you who things you can inhale radiation but to people that actually know what radiation is it doesn't make sense.

We should know better, because we are better.

Theory : the radiation was centered on a small point far away from Noble and only lasted a few milliseconds. By the time the blast hit Noble most of the radiation was absorbed or dissipated into the atmo.

90 million roentgens would not "dissipate" in a matter of seconds, radiation lingers for a long time. Also, it was close enough to disrupt all communications, fry electronics, disable Noble Teams' shields and make them fall to the floor. Kat even says that the radiation flare was close to them.

I would guess that Kat's radiation meter is linked to a satellite or antennae and the detected radiation spike was not immediately upon them.

Huh? Geiger counters do not need to be link to anything. You really do not know what you are talking about

Alright then, other options are:

1. Sci Fi writers have no sense of scale and chose a large number for no reason.

2. Plot armor.

I like how this thread has slowly become less and less about the Data Drops and their positive aspects and more and more about physics and radiation.

Instead of complaing about the small things that 343 and Bungie have not eleaborated in full detail about, how about we share ideas with eachother about what future Data Drops may explain? Some things haven't been confirmed in total detail yet, but it is fun to think about the possibilities.

Who knows? Maybe if a 343 employee reads this thread, they'll make a point to discuss the radiation stupidity in full detail.

While this is better there are still things that need to be better explained.

- More information on NOBLE team would be nice since we were assured that the game would give a depth explanation to them. Starting with why jun and emile weren't part of the original NOBLE team if they were in Alpha with Carter.

- What Exactly destroyed the covenant corvette on "Sword Base" (not really important but still).

- How noble team was exposed to such extremely high levels of radiation and didn't die.

-What was the purpose of that Artifact halsey found.

- How could the PoA got to the surface of Reach unscathed despite the fact it should be heavily damaged from engagements along with the fact hundreds of covenant ships are in orbit. The same is said for how it left without issue.

Then the actual mechanics of how it could land in the first place are needed.

1. More information on Noble would be nice, but I think that it can be assumed that the Noble Spartans were pulled from their respective companies, and used as Headhunters and operational units similar to them until the formation of Noble. Jun-A266 and Emile-A239 not being placed into Noble immediately isn't really an issue, and may not ever be addressed. We could just assume that they weren't "first picks" for Noble.

2. Probably won't know for certain, but it wouldn't be out of the question if it was an ODP.

3. Bungie/343i could cook up some response to that, but I doubt it would be satisfying. It was likely just Bungie over-exaggerating for dramatic effect.

4. It may be the result of a retcon; the previous co-ordinates that Cortana had, combined with the Sword Base artifact lead to the discovery of Halo.

5. The PoA wasn't damaged from the naval battle at Reach in the opening cutscene for Halo: CE. As for the fact that the PoA was able to land on Reach: we see UNSC frigates and countless Covenant ships operating in atmosphere, when physics would not allow that to happen. Like the other space vessels hovering and flying in atmosphere, and the absurdly high radiation count, you're just going to have to suspend your knowledge of the way the universe operates for the purpose of story-telling. Just like in my thread I made months ago about how physical anthropology and human evolution doesn't make sense with the vague outline Cryptum gives us, this is just a part of the fiction where reality doesn't really have a ball in the court.

IT must not be a retcon if the new version of the book didn't change that aspect.

I am going to pretend that you didn't say "The PoA wasn't damaged" and imagine that you just mistyped or haven't read FoR.

Is the PoA damaged in the opening cutscenes in Halo: CE?

I'm hesitant to accept new releases of the books as completely acceptable canon based on the fact that many things that we know now contradict the earlier books, including the rereleases. Besides, that was just conjecture, as is much of this thread. It's not an unreasonable guess, but it's still an unknown at this point.

You should maybe not try to seem like an arrogant ass when you post, I have no qualms with you.

EDIT: You should also read people's posts clearly before you get your panties in a bundle.

That can be attributed to the game engine and the fact every halo game has been rushed.

So you say that it might be a retcon then say you don't really accept the new books as canon (Which doesn't matter) yet the PoA was still massively damaged by that time in the book.

For it to be in pristine condition in the game is a massive slap.

All I said was that in Halo: CE, the Autumn looks like it's in perfect condition after making the jump to Halo.

When I mentioned "retcon", I was talking about the artifact found at Sigma Octanus IV being the sole source for the Autumn's arrival at Installation 04, not the condition of the Autumn post-Reach battle.

When Bungie was making that cutscene in Reach where the PoA jumps, they were trying to recreate that beginning scene in CE, for nostalgia's sake. The logical option here is that the condition of the PoA is a mistake, if we assume that the PoA did participate in the battle and didn't receive in hasty major repairs or something. I'm not claiming that anything I post is completely correct, I've said before that my posts and most of this thread is entirely conjecture.

This is why I said that I'm hesitant to accept everything about the books as canon, because there are still issues.

4. Noble Team was exposed to radiation only for a few seconds until Kat got readings of it and they put their helmets back on. There lungs also have higher capabilities.

500 roentgens can kill a person is less than 5 minutes. 90 million... Noble should have been instantly disintegrated.

They all had their plot shields at full strength.

Their shields obviously overloaded since Kats didn't save her.

I think you missed my humour...
