I was thinking about Halo 4 in the car today on my way home from GameStop (put money down on CEA), and I realized something very important that will probably be missing from Halo 4...

Music by Marty.

Seriously, the music in the Halo games is such a huge part of the experience. I wonder if the music in 4 will be on par with the rest of the series.

The Awakening and Reclaimer Trilogy songs seem to suggest so. It has that otherworldly and mysterious vibe Halo is known for.

(Awakening is referring too the Director's Cut announcement trailer btw).

The music we've heard so far is great. I quite loved Halo Legends music...

Plus, Halo Wars proved we can have great Halo-sounding music without Marty.

That is exactly what I was thinking when i decided to take a look at the forums to see if anyone thought the same as me.

Halo isn't Halo without Marty, imho.

{I regret having to say this (for the sake of Master Chief's awakening in H4), but the truth is, I believe Halo isn't Halo without "-Love, Bungie-" in the first place.}

Hmmmm, Didn't think of that. Despite this sad fact being true from what I've heard from H4 it seems great. Best of luck with Marty though.

Why not?

Marty isn't the only skilled composer in the world.

The standard typical Halo music was the first trilogy music, Reach,ODST and Wars had total new music yet they still rocked.

Halo doesn't needs Bungie(no offense to Bungie), look at what 343 has done so far for the fiction. Far better content then we had before like the growing mysteries with the Forerunners and Precursors that will lead into Halo 4. Funny huh how after 10 years Halo is still full of mysteries.

Don't worry man, we love Bungie but 343 does the franchise justice :)

I have faith in 343i.

They will do well.

One can be positive or less, have faith or less, in 343, no doubts.

But saying that Halo does not need Bungie is like saying the Monnalisa does not need DaVinci.

I don't see why you don't. I've been a Halo fan for a decade now and I can see that the quality of Halo was rotting away after Halo 3 with Bungie, ODST was fantastic but after that everything went stale. Everything got boring - their Weekly Updates, their interaction with the community, their spirit and enthusiasm with Halo, I think Bungie should have had ODST as a 3 year project and have that as their grand finale.

Every ViDoc I see 343i post, I see the same community spirit and enthusiasm that was prevalent in 2004-2007. And I've been very impressed with what they've come out with so far.

There are many good composers besides Marty.

His music will be missed, no doubt in that one, but still, it's not like 343i is going to hire the first guy who knocks at their door.

Indeed. They have Sotaro Tojima (I think that's his name), who is a fantastic composer.

Would have been nice if they got Mark Petrie though. :P

I probably haven't followed the weekly updates or the community as much as you, in fact i have followed that much less than I used to, in the last 2 years. The reason why I say what I say is because I feel very attached to Halo as a game, all of them, even Reach, after playing it a few times made me feel like It's still Halo, even tho a bit changed (MC for example, isn't there, and no matter what, that's not indifferent).
Come to think about it, Halo 3 is in fact the last Halo I remember giving me those strong shivers, but still.

I'm not sure I know what you mean when you say Bungie had lost enthusiasm in Halo, cause the way I see Bungie is through the games they make, and how they make them. The style and the feeling of Halo hasn't really changed that much since 2001, and it was Bungie who made all of that. Bungie is a group of persons, and Halo is their work.
You could never ask someone different to finish a book you started. That's unquestionable. That's what I meant all the way.
But in honesty, you got me curious, what made you feel Bungie lost enthusiasm lately? Please share, and thank you for your reply.
