It was simply a beginning variable to work with.

It'd be nice if the plasma rifle in this game was more powerful, or useful at ALL.

Yeah it would.

It would also be nice to have another precision Covenant weapon in the normal sandbox.

I never felt it was very well balanced that UNSC always had more (and arguably always better) precision weapons.

i've always wondered why the UNSC wasn't at a dis-advantage..

I still don't understand why the carbine wasn't in the game, and why we don't have that instead of the needle rifle if anything.

Actually this is relatively true to the universe and books, UNSC forces and vehicles are often times superior to covenant, while covenant have huge advantages in space and the ability to destroy planets.

I like the NR a little better than the Carbine.

Why there was never a precision sidearm, or at least a second precision Covenant weapon is beyond me.

I think it's more training and the SPARTANs than tech, because canonically (and realistically) Plasma based weaponry is far superior than ballistics.

yep. it would be wonderful to continually swipe a solid stream of bullets over someone potentially killing them faster with body shots then a dmr can kill with headshots.

you gotta love those random headshots as you are zigzagging your crosshair all over their upper chest, and props on completely changing halo's unique instant kill headshots into every other game's generic 200% damage headshots. and having enough bullets to instantly (<1 second) deshield 4 people back to back just seals the deal.
lol

Similar to the focus rifle with a smaller scope?

You're meaning for a Covenant Precision Weapon?

No.

Not beam related, especially not if it has to be held on the opponent.

Its not my actions that define me, but under what light I'm being looked upon.

Me after a physics lecture "So what you're saying is, non of it actually exists"
Yellow box "and I thought we were crazy"

30/2=15
shots to kill= 17
17*2=34

I always wondered why the AR gets so much crap, even when it's an iconic weapon in the franchise...

But maybe if it gets a replacement, that will change. Somewhat.

Nope. SouthPole isn't a person. He's the avatar of the force of tryhards everywhere. He stalks the web looking for retards to set straight. He can not be stopped by mere bans or thread locks for he shall rise anew.

Because having it as a starting weapon is retarded.

Yet it makes perfect sense.

Iconic weapon = Most likely going to be a starter.

In space, no one can see your shame. The utter beauty of the stars and galaxies will leave you lost in the desolate wasteland of rocks and dust, and that, children, is why astronauts are crazy people.
On a side note, I am a grammar & vocab-friendly guy. So don't assume I'm a smart ass if you get into a complex argument with me...

I like your idea, though the recoil could defeat the purpose of the scope considering that a scope needs precise aiming which is ruined by it.

  • 10.08.2011 5:36 PM PDT

Only if the regular reticle is small like the DMR's, and the hitscan doesn't get insane like the AR's currently does.

If you agree to these conditions, I think it'd be a brilliant addition. Much more useful than the crap that is the AR. If not, no. It'd be far too easy to use.

Scope + Recoil = Properly aimed, paced, deliberate shots and not just "I CAN HOLD DOWN TRIGGER!"

The plasma rifle is iconic.
We don't spawn with it.

The warthog is iconic.
It's not on every map.

DMR starts are better in every way.

The recticle would not be much (if at all) larger than the DMRs.

Hit Scan isn't what's insane, Bullet Magnetism is.

It's both.
I'm going to assume you've seen Irie's AR video.
It illustrates just how insane the bullet magnetism gets when combined with hitscan (that is, once the reticle is red).

That needs to be toned down.

But yeah, I like it.

Most definitely.

This can be done with smaller reticles and applying magnetism only if the projectile was within the inner circle of the reticle I believe.

The plasma rifle is not as iconic as the Magnum or the AR, though. And it's a Covy weapon. Why it's not in most Matchmaking games (even Invasion!) eludes me, though.

The Warthog is iconic, indeed, but it's not something that you spawn with, like a gun. Plus, not all maps are big enough to use vehicles in a practical manner.

I think this weapon I am presenting could take the place as a starting weapon.

Can hold its own in CQC (but maybe [in the case of Magnum] get beaten by Magnum and power weapons), and could hold its own against on map DMRs but only at the edge of close-mid range, outside of that DMR trumps it.
