Haven't seen a decent discussion on this, so let's start. Apparently in Halsey's Journal, she believes that NOBLE Team are either Spartan-IIs or the product of an off-shot program, ie JAVELIN.

Anyone have any idea what JAVELIN may be? It's obviously another augmented super-solider program, yet that's it.

Thoughts?

The denotation of a javelin is "a spear designed primarily for casting as a ranged weapon."

It's possible that JAVELIN was a program designed to send Spartans out to take the fight to the Covenant.

Or it could be a top-secret project designed to win ONI the 2552 Olympics.

I'm not to sure about it being more of a mission definition. Halsey did bring it up after she met NOBLE Team. I don't have the journal on me at the moment though.

That's what Gray Team, Black Team, and the Headhunters were for.

JAVELIN could've been something that was proposed alongside the Spartan project and was cancelled(and Halsey just didn't know it was cancelled.) I like to believe that was the case, since we've never heard anything about it other than the one time Halsey mentions it.

NOBLE team was one of the few spartan-III squads to be equipped with MJOLNIR armor (citation needed). This may be what project JAVELIN entailed: retrofitting MJOLNIR to be compatible to standard special ops (Halsey, at the time, may not have been aware of the Spartan-III program and so maybe did not think that NOBLE team were actual trained spartans but commandos.)

Perhaps it could've been a program to give augmentations to the general population of soldiers, but after seeing how royally messed up some of the Spartan-IIs became, they ditched it, but never told Halsey.

We should know better, because we are better.

Maybe it was the middle ground in regards to the Spartans. Sort of like ODSTs 2.0. Not full fledged Spartans but rather people with a stripped down variant of MJOLNIR that doesn't rip your arm out of your socket if you try and use it. A balance between cost and effectiveness.

Makes sense. Perhaps that's why Halsey was surprised at the field modifications NOBLE Made on their armor.

Looking at Six's default armor, it appears like it was stripped down to the bare essentially. No pauldrons, knee pads are minimal at best, and it appears more lightweight in general.

Wasn't it said the armor NOBLE Team got was the precursor to MK.V? If so it makes sense.

i think you have the best explanation as a supersolider project
