I was just watching Halo Legends (again), and I came across something interesting.

If you have seen the Halo 4 Art Trailer, you will understand what I am talking about.

Near the end of Origins II it show's some very interesting scenes. First, it shows Chief receiving Cortana from an organism resembling the Gravemind. Which didn't happen between Reach and Halo 3, in the way it is depicted. Then, it shows 343 Guilty Spark transporting Chief to a nearly constructed Halo over The Ark, which also did not happen. Both of those may be artistic or symbolic expression, but it is worth noting.

The thing that really caught my attention was what happens at the end of that scene. The camera then zooms in to the center of The Ark, where the Halo arrays are constructed. It then proceeds to turn into a bright red light, which almost resembles an eye. And if you have seen the Halo 4 Concept Art trailer, this might ring a bell. It greatly resembles the unidentified enemy at the end, and it even sounds almost identical. This has been speculated to be The Last Precursor, which would tie in very nicely.

Something else, which is much more abstract, was also noticed. Cortana's hologram started to flicker red, which I assume is from her current/or barely averted rampancy. Her eyes then proceed to also turn red. I have heard speculation on the web, that the Gravemind may literally be a voice the Precursor. Could Cortana have been imprinted by The Precursor/Gravemind?

Any thoughts, ideas, criticisms or corrections would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Colton

Also notice how Cortana's Iris turns into the symbol of Adjutant Reflex a.k.a Medicant Bias.

Indeed. A lot is to be said for the last scene in Origins II, (like the Nazca lines) But what exactly is unknown.

We should know better, because we are better.

I don't have Origins. Can someone post some pics for me? That would be appreciated.

I could only find a pic of the Gravemind giving the Chief a chip (possibly Cortana).

Note the red dot in the halo. Kinda makes you think about the Timeless One and the ancient enemy from the Halo 4 concept art trailer.

Not sure if it means anything but when the gravemind gives chief cortana, they are on the map guardian, from halo 3.

That's interesting. This should definitely be examined by someone more qualified than myself.

I'll just throw my 2 cents in.

Mind I don't have an opinion on everything, just a couple of the things that happened. For one, the Nazca lines suggest some sort of ancient alien kind of connection with humanity. Obviously, by now we know of Ancient Humanity, but back then we didn't. Still, why the Lines specifically? It seems to suggest they hold a purpose.

Second, The IRIS campaign connection. The symbol is that of everyone's favorite AI, Medicant Bias; the appearance of said symbol strongly supports the famous theory that Bias has hitched a ride on Cortana, and is now flying with the Chief. Why else put the symbol there?

And one last thing I'd like to point out: during the montage of the space scenes, the Nazca Lines, and all the nebulae, one nebula in particular is given special attention by hanging onto the center of the screen, covering Cortana in MC's figure as the screen fades back to the Dawn; it sorta looks like a tall smokey figure wreathed in orange cloud. I find it likely this nebula could be of some importance later on, given how prominently it was shown.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

I doubt it. But, it'd be nice to see as many things as possible tie into the new trilogy...since this is probably the last 3 Halo games. (That aren't side projects)

Yup, the nebula definitely has some meaning.

Could be a location of an important place:legendary planet, a Precursor world,...

Allow me to stop you right here. Origins isn't canon, 343i made sure to say that.

Certain elements if it aren't, like Cortana's recollection of some events. Other parts are canon.

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

First, it shows Chief receiving Cortana from an organism resembling the Gravemind. Which didn't happen between Reach and Halo 3, in the way it is depicted.

Pretty sure that was supposed to be a representation of a cut mission from Halo 3, Guardian Forest I think.
