REACH 2 ACHIEVE.
Pink but deadly

It's hardly scary when you see that marine on Floodgate in the corner mysteriously/randomly transform into a Flood combat form while infection forms rain down on the marines.
But what if the Flood suddenly retreated?
What if you went into the warehouse with your surviving marines and you're suddenly shot in the back by one of them and your marines shoot the perpetrator dead?
What if you come across a empty huge room and you're caught in an ambush a.k.a joint attack by half Flood marine infiltrators and waves of Flood combat forms? Mass confusion and hysterical marines!!
What if Gravemind and half Flood marines simultaneously conveyed mixed feelings to Chief? Would make it somewhat harder to kill them.
What if marines couldn't differentiate between friends and enemies (i.e. when you betray your allies, they immediately identify you as an enemy. With half Flood marines, it would be impossible to tell until they fired at marines or acted suspiciously)?
This would have been more fun to fight. Marine with normal not slowed down speed, ability to jump high into the air, better reflexes, able to throw grenades, AR in one hand, perhaps dual wielding with the other (i.e. dual wielding Lasers by means of Flood tendrils) and a third Flood whip appendage sticking out of one of the arms for melee.
Carrier Forms were at their worst. And infection forms even in large numbers aren't that dangerous.
The Pure Forms were the only real Flood. They were interesting but they weren't implemented very well. I would imagine Tank Forms having more inteligence given their close relation to and utilization by Gravemind. It was also difficult discerning what causes a Pure Form to change into the next form. When they transformed, they "ate" your grenades.
Finally, the Ranged Forms were just annoying. The fact of the matter is, the path was too tight so we had to either run past them or fight them in an unbearably long firefight. Imagine an underground room like on Isolation which we could go through fighting combat forms and emerging on the other end, avoiding or being in a better position to fire upon the Ranged Forms?
Halo 3 Flood were just there for scenery. They had potential but were a bit too slow, easy to kill, and not very entertaining to fight.
Flood mostly or entirely retaining the host's appearance and having a combined set of the host's abilities and it's own a.k.a Half Flood, but with better accuracy, faster melee speed, and faster reflexes/reactions would have made the Flood fearsome enemies to fight (as a result, there would have been an incentive to include Zealots on Flood levels, for epic battles).
They had camo on The Maw, could drive vehicles on Quarantine Zone, yet we see none of this in Halo 3.
TLDR: So yeah, add Half Flood as a specialist rank, improve the regular Flood combat forms, carriers, and pure forms. Improve the map layout so that we have more freedom. And make a spiritual successor to Quarantine Zone (as Valhalla and Standoff were supposed to be to Blood Gulch).
I'm a visionary!
Very interesting. I definitely agree with you, you have some amazing prospects to offer in this. If you were making the next Halo, I'd have to get your autograph.
