By sharp and flame; a friend of a friend.

Oh, wait, wrong minority group, huh?

Sorry, I meant to say; That is so -blam!-

Wait, I didn't say blam , I said -blam!-.

Thats weird, Bungie is censoring the name of a minority group that finds attraction in the same gender? Thats very odd.

I guess they must also replace Jew, Black, Mexican, Asian, and mentally handicapped with the word blam.

Oh, thats just baffling. They don't seem to find those minority groups offensive.

Oh! I get it! Bungie must be censoring that little G word because people use it as an insult, or to describe something that is unwanted or negative.
Hmmm, yea, duh,I just realised I do that all the time as well... in fact, I just did, didn't I?

I wonder when we started using that single minority group as an insult and adjective for unpleasurable things.

I also wonder if Bungie would ever censor other groups such as Jews, Blacks, or even Whites, if society also began to use them as adjectives for unpleasurable things.

I mean, I know Bungie has never had a character in their book or video game series that is an open member of that censored minority group, but I doubt that that says anything about them. I doubt they have a stigma against them. I'm sure since society uses the name of a minority group in such a negative light that they wouldn't want to get involved and mention them in their products anyway, that could hurt sales after all!

I also know that much of the Halo community isn't exactly friendly towards this minority group, but I don't see that as a reason for them to censor it either. Come to think of it, quite a bit of the community is intolerable to many different groups.

I mean, that would be so Jew if Bungie decided to censor the names of other minority groups just because society started using them as a negative adjective as well.

Honestly, there are so many other words that are meant to be used in a non-offensive manner, but people still use them in offensive ways. Such as ass, or dick. But how come, if these words can be used offensively, why are they not censored as well... Only that little G word is.

Hmm... well, I was originally going to rant about there not being any collectors editions announced yet for Halo: CEA. I swear, it would be so black if 343i doesn't make a collectors edition. But, I guess its too late to make them now...

So... opinions on any of the above discussed? Do you think its right that Bungie censors that word. I mean, come on, we all know what someone means when they say, "Dude, you're so -blam!-"
Whatever, hey, who would have bought a Halo: CEA Collector's Edition?

*Note to mods: I was instructed by a mod to move this thread to the community forums as "Threads about Bungie.net itself go in the Community Forum only. So, I suppose it is ok here, I mean it would be so white if you guys locked it. *

I didn't even both to read this thread because I know it is just a stupid complaint about the profanity filter. That isn't going to change anytime soon...

Too bad, you should have read it. I could care less about the profanity filter. But considering that Bungie censors the aforementioned, I find that to be ridiculous.

yep, pretty much this. I bet if more people (other than you) started using other terms as a derogatory insults, then they would be censored too. As of right now, they aren't.

Hey, now!

This is officially either the greatest or worst thing to ever happen to Star Wars. I'm going with the former.

I'm pretty sure it's because you can have a conversation regarding the word Jew without it being used in an offensive manner.

Now, -blam!- can be used in a non offensive manner, but more often than not it's being used as an insult.

Not about the entire filter. I'm ok with most of it. Just not the whole unfair censoring of minority groups. I'd laugh so hard if people ever did start using "Jew" or "Black" in place of the G word and Bungie started censoring them as well. Of course, it would be just as wrong, but I'd laugh for a second, none the less.

Forms of profanity which are prohibited and eaten by the -blam!- monster, are censored because they do not pertain to rational and well thought out discussions. People can use some of the words you mentioned (eg Posts involving the shades white or black) in discussion topics, which could be taken the wrong way if they are censored.

-blam!- has unfortunately been used too much as an insult, that it falls to the profanity filtration.

What about dick? Dick is usually used as an offensive word.

But really, there is no legitimate reason that the G word should be censored. There is no legal definition that states that it is an insult. Really, it makes no sense when people use it in that manner.

1.
-blam!--blam!-.

2.
of, indicating, or supporting -blam!--blam!- interests or issues: a -blam!- organization.

3.
having or showing a merry, lively mood: -blam!- spirits; -blam!- music.

4.
bright or showy: -blam!- colors; -blam!- ornaments.

5.
given to or abounding in social or other pleasures: a -blam!- social season.

These are the definitions of "-blam!-."

There is no reason it should be censored. Just like 'Jew' or 'Black' shouldn't be censored if those words ever fell into the same situation.

Dick can be a users name. But I rarely ever see people use the word 'dick' as an insult.

I never see anyone use the insult of describing a Jew. Why? Because it's censored.

Case and point: don't worry about it. Girls start getting boobies pretty soon, and then you'll have plenty of other things to think about. Being an Inheritor is not a life goal.

You could complain about not being able to use certain words on here, or you could realize that this is a game developers website, most discussion here is about Bungie or their games. That word would be used in a derogatory fashion towards other users much more often than an ethnic group name.

If you want to discuss people of that denomination, then you should find a site more mature than bungie.net.

As was said earlier, the negative connotation associated with that word is why it is filtered out. You can call someone Mexican, but hey, if they are of Mexican descent so why should it be offensive to them the truth is simply being stated. When you call someone the word in question, it could have many meanings, mostly as an insult. Whereas, the other words you stated were religious or ethnic backgrounds.

Mentally Handicapped? You may have a point there, but I've never seen it used as an insult on these forums before.

Mind telling us the reasons you want the word un-blammed?

whole unfair censoring of minority groups.

If the word where allowed, it would be abused. Some people would be mature and use it in proper discussions, others, well... Same concept as imbedding screenshots.

Yes, all of the groups I mentioned are also, minority groups.

I just think its not right that Bungie censors only that word. Wait do they censor -blam!- as well?

Yep, they censored the L word as well... Next thing you know they'll censor "Brony" Lol.

Just to tell you, Achronos just got a list of offensive words from windows or something. So, I don't think he actually manually put in offensive words to censor.
