By sharp and flame; a friend of a friend.

Sorry, I meant to say; That is so -blam!-

Wait, I didn't say blam , I said -blam!-.

Thats weird, Bungie is censoring the name of a minority group that finds attraction in the same gender? Thats very odd.

I guess they must also replace Jew, Black, Mexican, Asian, and mentally handicapped with the word blam.

Oh, thats just baffling. They don't seem to find those minority groups offensive.

Oh! I get it! Bungie must be censoring that little G word because people use it as an insult, or to describe something that is unwanted or negative.
Hmmm, yea, duh,I just realised I do that all the time as well... in fact, I just did, didn't I?
I wonder when we started using that single minority group as an insult and adjective for unpleasurable things.

I also wonder if Bungie would ever censor other groups such as Jews, Blacks, or even Whites, if society also began to use them as adjectives for unpleasurable things.

I mean, I know Bungie has never had a character in their book or video game series that is an open member of that censored minority group, but I doubt that that says anything about them. I doubt they have a stigma against them. I'm sure since society uses the name of a minority group in such a negative light that they wouldn't want to get involved and mention them in their products anyway, that could hurt sales after all!

I also know that much of the Halo community isn't exactly friendly towards this minority group, but I don't see that as a reason for them to censor it either. Come to think of it, quite a bit of the community is intolerable to many different groups.

I mean, that would be so Jew if Bungie decided to censor the names of other minority groups just because society started using them as a negative adjective as well.

Honestly, there are so many other words that are meant to be used in a non-offensive manner, but people still use them in offensive ways. Such as ass, or dick. But how come, if these words can be used offensively, why are they not censored as well... Only that little G word is.

Hmm... well, I was originally going to rant about there not being any collectors editions announced yet for Halo: CEA. I swear, it would be so black if 343i doesn't make a collectors edition. But, I guess its too late to make them now...

So... opinions on any of the above discussed? Do you think its right that Bungie censors that word. I mean, come on, we all know what someone means when they say, "Dude, you're so -blam!-"
Whatever, hey, who would have bought a Halo: CEA Collector's Edition?

As I've said, I've addressed these mods concerns so there should be no reason that this thread should be locked now. If it just so happens that they find yet another 'reason' which is sure to have merit, to lock it, I will once again address the issue to make this thread 'appropriate.' Unless of course I get banned (again), then it will have to wait until my ban is off.

This thread was stupid the first time, and I think it got worse the second time. Editing their names to make them look stupid is exponentially worse than saying "An Anonymous Moderator". This is going to get locked. It's equally as inappropriately unnecessary as the first thread.

Also, as other people said in your first thread, the words that are censored is a random, generic list generated by Microsoft or some other default entity and is not likely to be edited any time soon or ever if I had to give it a good guess.

Edit: Even in your repost it seems you fail to realize that black is a COLOR. One used to describe many things, one of which COULD BE the skin color of a person, but another could be a dog or a remote or an original xbox or a soccer ball or thousands upon millions of other things. Making an argument that it is an expletive equivalent to the g-word is stupid.

Hey, now!

This is officially either the greatest or worst thing to ever happen to Star Wars. I'm going with the former.

Didn't you post something basically exactly the same yesterday?

And there actually are -blam!--blam!-s in the Halo universe, read the short story 'Dirt', as there are two such individuals in that book.

Also, my point from yesterday stands.

While it is possible to use it in a non-insulting manner, most people use the word -blam!- as an insult.
It's the same reason the words -blam!-, -blam!-, etc, are filtered.

Also, the word -blam!- no longer means 'happy'. That was the old meaning, but I think most people can agree that's not what it means anymore.

I really don't feel like getting into this. I see what your saying but you are attempting to get your point out in such an immature fashion.

They locked it because there was a lot of argument which can be considered as flaming.

You just did get into it. I don't see it as an immature fashion. However, the people who would be able to make these changes don't seem to listen to logic, reason, mature debating or immature for that matter, or anyhting other than their own voices, quite honestly.

Okay, let's have a mature debate.

Why do you want this word uncensored on a video game site? Do you want to discuss that on a video game site? Would it not make more sense to go to a site that is dedicated to discussions like this where people won't simply abuse the word and actually keep a mature discussion?

Prove your points.

Okay, listen, we should get our stories straight, all right? If anyone asks, and no one's gonna ask, don't worry, but if anyone asks, tell them as far as you know, the last time you checked, everyone looked pretty much alive, all right? Not dead.

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

Sigh..

Alright, let me get my point out there. Said G word, in the sense of this conversation, describes a personal orientation. Why would you use said word to describe something that doesn't reach your standards or fails to keep you satisfied?

"This game is so -blam!-."

How does ones personal orientations relate to whatever game it is you are playing? Honestly, using said blam-ed word is ignorant and, to back my point, immature. Why not replace it as so: "This game is so hamburger."? It makes just as much sense, which happens to be none.

When society bends the definition of a words to mean something else in an offensive way, there is nothing you can do about it. It becomes a wide-spread slang term. Therefore, do to the offensive slang terminology it has received, you cannot view the word here on B.net because that's is how the webteam feels it should be dealt with.

Solution: deal with it. You can't do anything about it.

Oh, no. I could care less about it, in fact. I don't want to discuss it either. I just thought it was very weird and unfair that Bungie would censor that word. I just thought I'd bring it up. Also, I really only go on this forum when I am extremely bored and have nothing better to do. I actually should go now anyway. Have work soon and need to get ready.

Umm, so, yea.

Euripides, Bacchae. 480.

The homophobia exhibited by respondents to this thread is quite repellent, as well as that displayed by moderators attempting to censor your perfectly rule-abiding discussion. There is of course no reason why "g.ay" should be censored. There are a litany of other terms which can be used as insults, and often are, yet are not censored, as you point out.

Still, remember that Bungie is a North American developer, and thus I would not be at all surprised if it was composed of more than a few bigots. Add to this that these fora have a strange resistance to change, and I very much doubt your proposal will ever be implemented.

Try treating the people you are trying to persuade with a tiny bit more respect next time. They are more likely to take you seriously that way.

What? This has nothing to do with being homophobic. The word is censored because there is no discussing that needs to be done with that word on this site, and people aren't mature enough to discuss it on this site. If we gave the users on this site the ability to use the word, it would definitely be abused.

Evidence being that it is widely used in people's everyday language to insult or to describe something they don't like. So to stop people from being offended or insulted Bungie is homophobic by stopping it before it becomes a problem?

...No. Stop.

Nobody here is homophobic. And, if they are, it is not represented in any of the posts in this thread as of yet. If anything, you're being a stereotypical, ignorant, and blatantly rude person by insulting a hard working group of people that you don't know by assuming that a handful of them are bigots because they live in a massively large area of land and sea encompassing a good chunk of the planet.

The word has been manipulated by society to be a slang term that is both derogatory and not conducive to a civilized discussion in the manner that it's used in most of the time on internet forums (I.E. "This game is so -blam!-"). If you can't see this, and think that all the people in here are against the attraction of two people of the same sex because they don't want people to have the ability to use the word the way it is used MOST of the time (in an offensive fashion)... then you need to work on your analytic skills then come back and read this thread again.

That word is used offensively and the fact that it is censored is a testament to that offensive use and that constant usage is a legitimate reason to censor it.

I don't know that they are, it's just other people were talking about it in a manner suggesting they knew what they were talking about in his other thread (and what they were saying made sense) so I just went with it. Like I said, it could be some other generic entity as well.

I think it has everything to do with homophobia, and it would take quite impressive cognitive contortions to believe otherwise.

The words "prophylactic" and "merism" don't need to be used for any discussion on this website, given your limited understanding of "need". I suppose they should be censored also. Remember too the Flood, i.e. the off-topic forum.

As if other terms aren't. As I said, there are numerous terms that can be and are used as insults on this website. No one seems in favour of censoring those. I wonder why that might be.

See above. It's curious that I can call you a cockhead, but not be censored, yet someone cannot refer to a s.exual (another ludicrous act of censorship) orientation held by millions. Odd.
